My first GMAT degree was 500. For that exam I studied for more than 4 months. I read OG book more than two times and solved all its problems but I always was feeling that something is missed in that book. Something that tells all the categories I need to know for Quantitative part or all the tricks. One week before my first exam I noticed that all I was looking for I could find in Magoosh but it was too late for me. After the exam the first thing I've done was to invest my money in Magoosh. When I was watching the lessons in Magoosh I had a feeling that I found the key that I was looking for more than 4 months. I have my next exam in 3 weeks. I hope I can use what I learned from Magoosh.

Hi All,

I gave my first GMAT in Nov 2013 and scored 600 with Q47 and V25.

The books that I used were MGMAT SC and CR apart from OG13. A quick search would show you that most use MGAMT SC books and have scored amazing in verbal, so even I studied from these books for SC, as SC was my weakest part, being a non-native English speaker.
I did understand the contents in the book but was still somehow making a lot of mistakes and for most of the time I couldn't figure out why a wrong option is wrong in OG. Google would bring me here and I discovered this great site and later eventually after a dismal 600, e-gmat!
I saw bb recommending some user to have a look at e-gmat for verbal and thought well among the various courses if he is recommending this to someone I should also give it a try.
I enrolled for Verbal Live-prep, got a discount, and found a new way of learning.

The course is organized into separate segments as per the topics and it goes into the detail of every topic. You get a pre and post assessment quiz after each section so that you can check your mastery on these topics, the thing missing in books. I would suggest you to make notes also of the content and the error log.

The workshops and live sessions actually tells you why a choice is wrong if it is wrong and the discussion that takes place in these classes are amazing. These live sessions are the single thing worth the money. While browsing the forums you get 1000 rules why an ans is right or wrong, some of these rules are misleading or incomplete, but a tutor in these live sessions clears many doubts while discussing why a option is wrong and to what extent you can apply a rule. You would understand this if you have read MGMAT SC book as in this book you will find exceptions for many rules and even exceptions to exceptions! However these books are amazing if you can study on your own, nevertheless, I found e-gmat courses to be well worth the cost.
I gave two free mock tests: Kaplan and Veritas and scored 720 in each with Q50 and V~37 in Nov 2014. I also gave GMAT prep and scored 740 with Q50 and V40. I will appear for gmat in a while and will post my experience here on gmatclub.
I would suggest if you are struggling with SC, you can definitely check e-gmat.
For CR: one funda only - Prethink.
RC - well, solve SC within 90 sec and CR in less that 2 min will give you ample time to tackle each RC with around 7-8 min each.

Good luck.

This is an excellent course for Math - clear, easy to understand videos that will help anyone in the 500 or 600 level.

Verbal has a great section of videos as well.

Their strong point is Quant and the question bank is one of the best I have seen. For $99 this is a great value for money. Do yourself a favor - don't spend $1000 on gmat courses. This is actually a great companion to the MGMAT books. See their study plans. You can get a good gmat score (700+) if you study hard.

The question bank for verbal is okay - use it to master fundamental s then move on to official questions.

Magoosh was very helpful for my GMAT preparation. I have yet to give the official test but I have already experienced a significant score increase. Starting out with a 450 before my preparation, I achieved a 110 score increase so far and I am not planning on stopping yet. I have been following the 3-month schedule for beginners and I can particularly recommend the daily consumption of the lesson videos that give you an in-depth view on the theory necessary for the different quant and verbal sections.
Magoosh also comes with countless practice exercises with answer explanations for every single exercise.
I found the quant difficulty level to be comparable to the quant section of the GMATPrep test. The Sentence Correction exercises however seemed a little easier.
Keeping this in mind, Magoosh is an invaluable method for boosting your GMAT score for an unbeatable price.

I love the instructional videos, you have the ability to break down and critique any of your weaknesses through their customization tab. However, the real beauty of this course is you can go at your own pace. It is studying made fun. I have never taken a course that was so intuitive and helpful. The other aspect that I love about this course is the team that is there to help you with any clarifying questions. They respond quickly and they are not short with their responses. They take the time to explain to you when you are confused. Thanks Guys!

I just want to thank e-gmat team for the wonderful work they are doing by providing such a easy approach to sentence correction. The approach or the egamt process helped me to gain 80 % accuracy in sentence correction . Their course structure is simple and easy to use even for a non native speaker of English language .quizzes after each lesson did a fabulous job in making a sound foundation of that concept.i would recommend all gmat aspirants for egmat course.I really want to thank all the e-gmat team for making the gmat sentence correction part so easy for me.

I have decided to enroll for egmat after attending their CR session-Prethinking. It really helped me in understanding the approach for solving CR questions. I took their verbal online course. I really feel like this is the best resource available out for verbal. The course is very structured and helped me a lot in understating the concepts of SC and CR. The egmat team has done a wonderful job in formatting the course according to modules and end of module quizzes. The quizzes helped a lot in reinforcing the concepts learnt in the module. It was totally worth the money spent and i highly recommend it!!

Magoosh's materials are really detailed and well explained with a lot of practice questions. It helped me a lot to understand the various elements in the verbal section and revise my concepts on the maths section. I would recommend some more IR questions and some more full length practice tests as well. I'm completely satisfied with magoosh course and I'm looking forward to make it to the 700's! Best of luck Magooshers!

Cons:
-Could focus more on strategy
-Although the SC aspect of verbal is strong, CR and RC could be enhanced (although everything you NEED to know is covered)
-IR is covered in the same way as CR and RC, but it could be more comprehensive
-No AWA practice essays

Thanks a lot Magoosh!

The Videos at Magoosh specially on the Sentence Correction are excellent. All the topics are explained in detail and organised in a very easy to understand manner.

The topics align well with the way GMAC prepares the test as well as the GMAT official guide.

The videos on RC and CR are good too but are less impressive when compared to the ones in SC.

Practice questions are well designed and help one with good analytics to understand ones weak areas.

The Quant videos are great too specially the ones on Combinations and Probability. The course has been very informative and I recommend the course to any one who wants to prepare for the GMAT.

I have not taken actual GMAT but nevertheless thought it would be a good idea to share my experiences with others.
I started my GMAT preparation journey with jamboore, though they definitely helped me improve my baseline and work on my weaknesses, I felt that to build up on my vocab score I needed something better.I started my verbal preparation with SC and i found it immensly dificult. Once i started learning through E gmat the interest levels and the difficulties in answering the questions gotimproved. The course developed a confidence in attempting the questions and also my personal skills. Course is well defined in various levels and organised well in a sequence to go though.
Thanks for Rajat for frequent webinars to improve the skills and scores. E-GMAT verbal is a great course, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to boost up his verbal score
