I was scoring around 630 with verbal somewhere around 30s and decided to take up e-gmat verbal online first around April. The meaning based approach for the SCs was a game changer. The grammar rules are very clearly explained and the Scholaranium’s archive of questions helped me cover all types of concepts I had struggled with. After that my verbal score improved significantly. I later purchased the quant course too and the tricks for some of the concepts came in really handy. Although i was on and off with the practice due to full time work, the mocks made the final exam super easy. I felt that the quant questions on mock were a little tougher than the ones i received in the final exam but they gave a good practice to all kinds of questions. E-gmat also provides free tests with sites such as gmat club and 800 score, so overall it was a really good platform to get myself accustomed to the testing environment. I took the E-GMAT one month prep course and found a marked improvement in my performance. Few of the things that particularly worked for me:
1. The module structure of the course and individual module assessments to Identify your pain points followed by the custom and cementing quizzes to boost your performance on the same topic - be it Quant or Verbal.
2. A Round-the-clock team of coaches and experts who help solve each one of your doubts - right from clarifying your conceptual gaps to potential next steps that you should undertake
3. A dedicated expert (DJ in my case) towards the last 2 weeks of preparation who went through my performance across quizzes and mocks, schedule 1v1 calls for identifying target areas to focus on and periodically checked-in on the improvement. I was about ready to give up on the GMAT until I discovered Target Test Prep. I took the GMAT the first time early 2020 with about 2 months of studying using Manhattan Prep books and the the GMAT Official Guide, but I was very disappointed with my score. I decided to study for it again with similar practice books, but was still not achieving the score I wanted on practice tests. Fortunately, I discovered TTP, used the online modules for about a month of dedicated studying, and improved my score by 90 points. It is hands down the BEST course you can use for GMAT studying. My verbal score was stuck since I was a non-native English speaker and I was not well versed with the rules required to crack SC .

The CR and SC tactics explained in the e-gmat course helped me pass through that hurdle unscathed.

Another struggle that I faced was with RC. I took a lot of time to solve the RC questions. Once I started applying the RC tactics suggested in the e-gmat course, I was seamlessly solving the questions well within a stipulated time limit.

If you are reading reviews of test prep companies on Gmatclub, then there is a good chance that you already have enrolled with a gmat test-prep company and you think that your choice has not been a correct one. I was at a similar stage in my gmat journey when I came across a video of Piyush from GmatWhiz.

Before starting my preparations with GmatWhiz I had spent around 3 months in my gmat prep and had purchased a course from a popular self-proclaimed GmatGodman and another from one of the most popular gmatprep online company. What I had learnt until then were some shortcuts, tricks, and question formats covered in these courses - ticks such as one should focus on tone changing words and baselessly eliminate answer choices with superlatives in RC, in SC mindless selection of answer choice with an absolute phrase and blind elimination of options containing "being" , and many other such tricks that hardly result in quality performance on a real GMAT test. For quant, the courses that I had done until then did not have sufficient variety of “hard’ questions. Thus I did not have a correct approach towards the test and resorted to shortcuts and ticks. As a result I had a below average performance, and I was scoring around 600 on the mocks.

By August end, I was completely hopeless with my GMAT prep as my target score was 650 and the planned test date was 11th September, and I was consistently scoring only 600 on the mocks.

Then around August end, I got a chance to interact with Piyush and my mindset about GMAT was totally changed in this one discussion. Piyush emphasised on everything that I had cut corners around and had not done until now - for example: not skimming but thoroughly understanding the RC passages, spending sufficient time on SC questions to properly understand the intended meaning, understanding every word of CR passages, practicing hard quant questions, and ensuring to not to make careless mistakes on the quant. Hoping to learn something concrete, I enrolled with GMAT Whiz for a 10 day course (as I had booked my GMAT exam on 11th September) that included their AI delivered lessons and guidance by the mentors.

In the first four days of this course I understood that why any shortcuts, tricks, or guessing-patterns DO NOT help If one wants to score above average on GMAT. Knowledge of the concepts, analytical reading, correct approach, and proper understanding of the questions enable one to get his or her target score. During this course, I was taught how to properly read during GAMT so that I do not need to re-read - something which totally changed my approach towards the entire test. By developing this ability to throughly understand questions and choices in just one good read, I was able to not only correctly mark the questions but also to save a lot of time that earlier use to be spent on re-reading almost every thing. In 600+ level sentence correction questions, intended meaning plays the most important part, and GMAT Whiz SC module enables one to understand the intended meaning of even “Very-Hard” difficulty level SC questions in just one read. Once the intended meaning is clear then by quick application of simple grammar rules and logic, which are also covered in much detail in this course, one can easily and quickly arrive at the correct answer choice.

The quant section on GMAT Whiz covers the best quant concepts and has a variety of question types of all difficulty levels. The ability to correctly attempt hard level questions is really important if one wants to cross Q46 and I am so glad that I practiced all the quant questions on GMAT Whiz platform, on which around 40% quant questions have “hard” difficulty. Unlike like the other test-prep companies that said high accuracy in medium-level questions will be enough for my target score, Gmat Whiz and Piyush insisted that hard difficulty will be the deciding factor. I realised this on the test day - if one is performing above 600 on the GMAT, then around 40-45% quant questions will be of Hard difficulty.

I joined the GMAT Whiz course on 1st September, and on 11th September I wrote the GMAT and scored 660 - within 10 days my performance improved by 60 points! I credit Piyush and Gmat Whiz for this improvement because their emphasis on “developing a correct approach” enabled me to change my mindset and to develop the right approach towards this test.

Piyush and Saquib from Gmat Whiz also have really good knowledge about business schools across the globe. Post GMAT, Piyush and Saquib helped me with my applications. Under their guidance, I applied to B-schools. I was really amazed by their quality of support for application questions, essays, and interview-perp because I was able to convert 5 really good B-schools - Rotterdam School of Management, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Cranfield University - UK, IIM-Calcutta, and HHL Leipzig, and got a waitlist from Warwick Business School.

I never thought I would be able to post one of these.

I tested in the test center today and miraculously pulled off a 740 with splits of 49/42/8. When the score popped up, I legit started crying and I am not ashamed of that.

I am from the U.S., so I'm pretty familiar with standardized testing. I scored 95% on the SAT. I am also prior military and am used to promotion testing and the ASVAB; I tested 96% on that and 99% on the officer exam. Suffice it to say, I have never had a problem with testing until the GMAT. I took a diagnostic about a year ago and scored a 600, then took the real test last December and used that score, a 670, to apply to Fall 2020 programs. With everything that happened, I elected to defer and try my hand again with taking the GMAT.

I went through most of TTP quant and was scoring again around 670-700. I took the online test August 22 and scored 700, indicative of my practice results. I don't know if something just clicked after this point or what, but I transitioned from only investing my time in math to TTP's verbal as well, and I felt better about the test as a whole. I jumped from 46/47 Q to 49, where I have been at since. I felt my sentence correction techniques getting better as well from the extended devotion to verbal, and took OG mock 4 on September 12 and scored a 740. This convinced me to move up my test date to today, September 14, in hopes of riding the peak of my efforts.

That happened. While I didn't think the test was smooth, it ended up working out. I struggled through the math; I'm not sure if I technically finished. I I had an answer selected but time ran out before I hit submit on question 31. After verbal, I was pretty convinced I did poorly and was just slugging through the rest of the test so I could go home.

All this is to say, if I can do it, so can you. I never really felt that that phrase meant a lot, but I am by no means a genius. I spent a grueling amount of hours working through TTP and honestly never finished - I never started geometry. But, if you want it, if you want a certain score, you can make it happen. I think the GMAT is more of a testament to a person's will than their academic ceiling. Thanks to everyone over at TTP!

Prior to starting TTP, I had 3 attempts under my belt (680->650->600). I had been using other prep programs and just studying on my own, so I decided to give TTP a shot

Fast forward about 3 months and I had my target score. (730)

While this course does take a good amount of time, TTP gave me the best shot to achieve a solid Quant and Verbal score. I finished in about 2 months, and used the 3rd month to test prep.
The TTP team was very attentive to inquiries. As has been noted here, the Quant program is second to none, in my opinion certainly a must for any prospective GMAT test taker. Additionally, even though the Verbal is still in beta, it is an incredible program and very helpful especially in regards to SC and CR.
