GMAT smoke and mirrors

Course EMPOWERgmat Online Course

Location Online

Course has terrible content - old platform, with numerous mistakes in the grammar/solutions. I brought this up with the owner Rich Cohen, who acknowledged and persistantly denied my request for a refund

The syllabus is a chaotic mess of pointless anecdotal clippings and poorly laid out exercises

Avoid this test provider at all cost. Reviews are all inflated and overzealous, exaggerated and in many cases I believe completely fake. Many better test providers out there, if you read deeper into gmatclub/forums online you will too find out the truth about empowergmat

Avoid Empowergmat at all COSTS. Owner Rich Cohen has been a complete hassle to deal with also. AVOID

Holborn significantly better than Docklands

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by gmat club tests [?]

Both test centres have multiple exams taking place so be aware that both centres are relatively busy.

Docklands centre given its location is less polished and more run down. The testing room for GMAT is very small (4 desks) and I did not have a pleasant experience interacting with the staff there

Holborn is a more standardised environment and much larger. Given the surrounding area it is busier however it is located very close to the station and therefore it is more accessible than the docklands centre.

The Holborn testing location also has much larger rooms and a isolated waiting area with lockers. Restroom facilities are also much better. I would recommend you to sit the GMAT at Holborn centre

Best quant focused course but with drawbacks

Course Target Test Prep Flexible Prep

Location Online

One of the only quant only focused courses it provides a comprehensive resource. However at times feels very repetitive given the same format which is a short content/lesson followed by numerous questions (some may view it as an excessive amount although it drives the topic home through sheer repetition as opposed to guile)

The course is not necessarily the most well advertised but that is partly due to numerous claims about other GMAT courses such as egmat and gmat prep now, the reviews of which in some cases are arguably dubious/spurious

TTP definitely has the best interface out of any prep company as it is clean, modern and what you would expect from being a fee paying user

The content itself is comprehensive in that you don’t need to really learn much more, if any, then what the course teaches you. The same cannot be said about other courses (I have personally utilised Magoosh, GMAT Prep now) which have more gaps in content

Questions are easily answered and responded to directly in chat (no other service offers as quick replies). However interacting with Scott/Jeffery at times I felt was poor and rushed (perhaps given the fact they want to respond so quickly). For example the course is commonly advertised on reddit and numerous posts from Scott are clearly copy and pasted generic responses. I have also personally encountered numerous ‘harsh’/abrupt replies from Jeffery on chat. They also do not like to cover questions outside their content realm which other providers such as GMAT Prep do

Verbal building blocks but much more needed

Course e-GMAT Online Focused

Location Online

One of the most popular recommended courses
For the pricing the layout of the content feels very “cheap” and cumbersome to use e.g. cannot play videos at different speeds. On the contrary listening to the content at the normal speed does ensure you do not listen too fast and miss important details
Verbal provides a good foundation for content however much of the terminology used is abbreviated/categorised in their own form and comparing this with other providers terminology can lead to some confusion
EGMAT have their own question banks but style of questions is different to official source. The course is also prepared by non native English speakers and mistakes are noticeable in both the content and questions
Recommendations would be to use verbal for a basis for learning content as it goes into granular detail on the different grammar components. The proprietary question banks allow focus on weaker topic areas however given they are not representative of official questions, even moreso then other providers, I would advise tapering these off prior to practicing official questions ahead of the real exam

Good basics but needs refreshing

Course Magoosh Premium

Location Online

Interface is easy to use and navigate
Tutor responses are efficient and can be accessed through email or live chat (Only TTP provides such a feature). However on live chat the personnel responding are always different and as such the quality of responses notably does differ
Course content I found to be not entirely comprehensive although I used the material as a refresher for a resit
Quant content less thorough then other generalist providers such as GMATPrepnow and significantly less than targeted providers such as TTP
Financial cost of the course is reasonably priced with good accessibility as purchase provides 6 month access. Furthermore course price is frequently discounted during seasonal sales. They also offer money back score guarantee if a point increase is not met
Recommendation would be that the course is good for general knowledge of the syllabus for both quant and verbal but I agree with many that the content is lacking depth
