Samalam,

Before asking the experts, can you please seek from the poster to elaborate on why the OA is OA and why the others are not?
You may also request him whether the transcription is ok as this topic is said to be from a premier institute. This will give us insight into the rationale of the topic.

A résumé is a history of past work experience, and when it is well written it is also a savvy piece of marketing, but there is one thing it is definitely not; a chronology of past performance.

(A) and when it is well written itis also a savvy piece of marketing, but there is one thing it is definitely not; a chronology of past performance.

(B) and when it is well written it is also a savvy piece of marketing, but there is one thing it definitely is not. It is not a chronology of performance in the past.

(C) and when it is well written itis also a savvy piece of marketing, but there is one thing a resume definitely is not: a chronology of past performance.

(D) and when it is well written itis also a savvy piece of marketing, but there is one thing It definitely is not. It is not a chronology of past performance.

(E) and when it is well written itis also a savvy piece of marketing, but there is one thing it is definitely not. It is not a chronology of past performance.

Hi can you please post the OE-- thank you

Dear Experts sorry to drag you into this, but i think this is a bogus question, no discussion on OA, the source of question also looks shady. If possible archive this question, many people, like me would end up wasting their time on this.

Again, Sorry to bother you guys!

One reason I could thing C is wrong is: the noun it is defining after the colon is at a distance. "One thing: --Definition--" might have been a better acceptable answer.

Between D and E, D is a better choice because of placement of "definitely".

shridhar786 Since you have posted a screen shot from the test, can you find the explanation there? It is unlikely that there won't be any explanation there.

Answer Explanation
The best answer is (d). Choices (a) and (e) are incorrect because the verb phrase "is not" is separated by the word "definitely." Choice (c) makes use of inappropriate punctuation and choice (b)'s "of performance in the past" is wordy and awkward compared to choice (d).

SiddharthaChepuri I'm afraid none of those are valid reasons to cut any of these choices. As others have suggested, this is not a proper question. One big clue is that our choices should always represent one sentence, not two. There are also not enough differences between the choices. There is no clear reason to prefer D over C or E. Let's close this thread out for the new year!
