Always check the answer choices before you do ANY work.

The complete round trip consists of driving to the service center and then back home again.
So, once the technician drives to the service center he/she has already competed 50% of the entire trip.
Since the technician completes a portion of the trip back home, the correct answer must be greater than 50%

i got it wrong because i misunderstood the meaning
" If the technician completes the drive to the center " it actually means completed 50% of the entire trip then 10% of this more
so overall 55%

Assuming that the technician makes a round-trip of 40 miles (each way is 20 miles), then the technician would have completed 20 miles + 2 miles (10% of the remaining 20 miles). Therefore, the total is 22 miles. $$\frac{22 miles}{40 miles}$$ is 55% of the entire trip.

Let the distance from hot to center = 100.............round trip =200
Then 10% of distance= 10

Total completed distance =110

Percentage = 110/200= 11/20 .....this number is more than 50%

Only answer above 50% is 55%

The math is simple, but the wordings in the problem were a little difficult to grasp in the first read.

Let's say a round-trip takes distance "D"
Total distance for 2 round-trip is 2D
So the technician has traveled D + 0.1D = 1.1D
The percent of the round-trip has the technician completed = 1.1D / 2D = 0.55 (E)

Let, Distance between other destination from Centre = D

Total Distance to be travelled = 2D

Distance travelled = D+0.1*D = 1.1D

% of round trip completed = (1.1D)*100/(2D) = 55%

We can let the distance to the center = d, so the roundtrip distance = 2d.

Since the technician has driven to the center and completed 10 percent of the drive home, he has gone d + 0.1d = 1.1d. Thus, the percentage completed is:

(1.1d)/(2d) x 100

11/20 x 100 = 11 x 5 = 55 percent.

Alternate solution:

After the technician has driven to the center, he or she has completed half, or 50%, of the round trip. We know that the technician will drive a bit more, and without doing the math, we see that the only logical answer choice is 55%.

Assuming the round trip is 100%, then each trip is 50%
Drive to the centre = 50%
10% of the drive back = 10% * 50% = 5%
% trip completed = 50% + 5% = 55%

A trap answer 60% is missing.
