A) considered not yet as serious a problem in the West as

B) considered not so serious a problem yet in the West as

Not considered is the correct usage than considered not. A & B are out.

C) not yet considered as serious a problem in the West as it is

Correct. No issues here. As is used correctly to compare.

D) not considered as yet the serious problem in the West that it is

Changes meaning - this conveys that it isn't considered at all while original sentence conveys not considered as a serious problem yet.

E) not as yet considered that serious a problem in the West as

Incorrect usage of that for comparison. Should be "as".

Dear Friends,

Here is a detailed explanation to this question-

generis

Acid rain is considered not yet as serious a problem in the West as in the East, where hundreds of lakes have been rendered sterile by increased acidity.

A) considered not yet as serious a problem in the West as

B) considered not so serious a problem yet in the West as

C) not yet considered as serious a problem in the West as it is

D) not considered as yet the serious problem in the West that it is

E) not as yet considered that serious a problem in the West as

A: This answer choice uses the incorrect idiom "considered not yet", rather than the correct idiom "not yet considered". Thus, this answer choice is incorrect.

B: This answer choice repeats the error seen in Option A. Thus, this answer choice is incorrect.

C: This answer choice maintains parallelism and proper idiom use. Thus, this answer choice is correct.

D: This answer choice uses the incorrect idiom "considered as". Thus, this answer choice is incorrect.

E: This answer choice fails to maintain parallelism between "considered that serious" and "in the East". Thus, this answer choice is incorrect.

Hence, C is the best answer choice.
