Hearty congrats Abhishek !!
I am yet in my preparation phase. Planning to give test around 20th oct. Will it be a good time to apply post that or am I late already ?

Hi,

It's surely cutting it close! But given a choice between (a) 40 days time to submit for R2 and (b) R3, I would suggest R2. I guess this is specially true for international candidates since the visa processing may take some time. Also, if you feel that your GMAT prep is well on track, it may be a good idea to spend a little bit of time thinking of your application strategy, so that the "introspection phase" is already done, and you can jump to essays as soon as you're done with GMAT.

Hey Abhishek!! Congrats for your remarkable success..

Kindly help me bro in answering some of my doubts-

Background- Basically i am from commerce background. I am a chartered accountant and now i want to take GMAT on 31st Oct,14. i have 2.5 yrs exp until now. I want admission in top 20 b-schools only.

1. I have scored 71.6% in graduation (B.com). How to convert it into GPA to fill in gmat form??

2. Am i too late now for 2015 Batches ??

3. Which colleges are good for doing MBA in finance ?

Hi Sachin,

Thanks for reaching out. To your questions:
1. I faced the same situation since my university didn't use the GPA system. Depending on the school application, I provided either my percentage obtained, or simply said 1st division. I didn't face any issues from any school I applied to. If you prefer, you could also email the schools to check this.
2. That's a very subjective question :). But if you get done with GMAT on 31st Oct, you still have 2 months to work on your application. That's certainly doable but you'll need to be diligent about investing time.
3. The schools best known for Finance are Wharton, LBS, Chicago Booth, NYU Stern, Columbia, UCLA and Cornell. I hope I haven't missed out some school.

1. Highlighting differentiating factors among the competitive Indian male category: international work experience, social sector experience, non-IT background
2. Spent a solid time researching unique aspects of each school and relevance to my career goals
3. Focused on keeping my profile "interesting": e.g not just focusing on work exp, career goals but also some hobbies, travel experience etc.
4. Provided very specific examples to highlight my skills, not high-level/generic comments

INSEAD is also my priority , though my GMAT is only 710 and GPA 71% . but anyway i will apply , nothing to lose .
i want you please to explain more about these points .

1- in which essay does this come up ????
2-for christ's sake how can i find this information about each uni ?????? and i mean not just some general things that can be said about any school . i have a meeting with IESE and IE schools in 2 days as part of a fair here but i wasnt able to find any genuine difference .... the same for INSEAD
3- In an essay ?
4- can u give an example of this ?

What do you believe was the factor that led to a decline from HBS?

Can you share why did you prefer INSEAD over Wharton with decent scholarship?
