Hey .. I was wondering about the job prospects in Finance post MBA.How is the Investment Banking Sector/Financial Advisory sector in Alberta post MBA? Would I be able to find good 4 months internship in Finance during the Full time MBA?
I look forward to hearing you soon. Thanks
Hi,
Finance/investment banking is not a huge sector in Edmonton. There would be some opportunities but it is quite a competitive industry. There would be some internship opportunities but again they will be very competitive.

Thanks a lot for the response Chelsea. Your insights will definitely help me to select appropriate business school. I would really appreciate your opinion on Mcmaster ,Wilfrid Laurier and Concordia. They have coops/internships as well.

I don't know that much about those other schools unfortunately. I am sure any of them would be great schools if they offer the environment that you are looking for.
I have 6 yrs work ex in energy sector and post mba i am looking forward to work in the same sector. so i thought alberta would be good choice.

Hi,
Even with the downturn there are still jobs in the energy sector it is just not booming quite like it was a couple of years ago. And hopefully in another couple of years the economy improves a bit.

just gave it earlier this morning. Had internet problems so had to wait for a few days. The interview was easy. No need for any prep. Just behavioral questions a lot like York.
I also plan to apply to Alberta MBA. However, my GMAT is only 600 (Q50, V21). Is that possible to apply, or should I retake the GMAT. By the way, I really dont know how to crack the verbal. I now decide to purchase egmat to study verbal part. Hope that it helps, but really worry.
how long after submitting the application can one expect to hear from the AdCom?
I submitted mine on Nov 4th. Logged into Bear Tracks.. it says Application Complete... Decision Awaited..
Thanks!

Hi,
There is no set timeline for when you will hear back so be patient. This is one of the busiest times of the year for the admissions department. Length of time to hear back doesn't tell you anything about whether you will be accepted or not. I didn't get my first interview until over a month after I applied. Be patient and good luck!

Hi,
The minimum GMAT score required to be admitted to the program is 550. The admissions department offers a preliminary assessment where they will assess the strength of your application. If they suggest you retake the GMAT then you have plenty of time to study and increase your score. The link to the assessment is here https://apps.business.ualberta.ca/forms ... ion/Create
