Hi oss198 my apologies for the late response. To confirm what the other poster said, the video questions are not the end all be all.

In fact, admissions says they use this as a way to *qualify* applicants NOT *dismiss* applicants. They feel not all applicants convey their value on paper and want to provide another channel. I'm sure they are also reading your *vibe* and comm skills.

Anyways, the party line from INSEAD admissions is that they don't use the video questions to eliminate so you can breathe more deeply now.

Also remember that everyone is facing the same limitations in terms of answering abstract, spontaneous questions within a minute's time, afterwards, rarely do people say YES I killed that, woo hoo, 10 out of 10.

As for your other question, very likely you will hear earlier if it is a positive response, however INSEAD varies a lot, sometimes positive replies go out the date of the deadline!

Cheers
Farrell

Hi, I have 2 questions :
1) How important is the video interview ? I have the feeling to have poorly performed (stuttered, ecc.), I was tired and stressed out (I did it the night of the deadline, it was not possible before).
2) All decisions for interviews will be given on the 19 October 2018 ? Or can we get contacted before ?

I remember 3 of the questions from my video essays.

1) What will INSEAD give you that no other MBA program will?
2) What skills do you think are necessary for an entrepreneur?
3) What are some stereotypes about your culture and how do you feel about them?

My understanding is that all invites will be sent at once on October 19th.

EDIT : nevermind it can come earlier.

"While we operate a staged admissions process, with four deadlines for each of the two intakes per year, within each round, applications will be reviewed on a rolling admissions process. This means that the Interview and Final Decision deadlines you see below are the latest dates by which you would receive your decision, but it could be earlier."

Do you know if the invites come out by region? I'm an Indian based in Singapore and I'm terrified that not having got an invite yet means I'm out :(

subirroy I think there is more of a relationship between AO and invitation timing than country. I would recommend that you channel all that anxiety into being positive, but also get cracking on any other applications you plan to submit if any. Laying out next steps while crossing fingers for the best to happen.

Hi everyone, I am sure the coming week will be quite stressful for all and I would suggest that you take all the stress and fear you might be experiencing and channel it towards your Plan B.

Knowing that you will have a next step to take if the worst happens will calm you down. Cambridge, Oxford, and HEC all have upcoming deadlines and so maybe consider ideas for the Cambridge essay about shocking statistics....hop on a webinar and learn a bit about other programs so you can hit the ground running.

By no means do I recommend that you "give up", but it's my personal belief that stress, fear and angst will not increase your chances of getting an invite. Engage your mind in other ways. I update deadlines on my website regularly and also provide links to all the online admissions events (webinars/chats) so please take advantage. https://mbaessaycoaching.com/top-program-deadlines/

Even if you do receive an invite, I urge you to continue with your "campaign" as I call it. Put in apps with other programs because most people think they will convert their interview but guess what, almost half are wrong.

Think strategically about how you can repurpose ALL the content you have created for this beast of an app.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the helpful information on this forum!

I have a few questions as I apply for Round 2, any advice is appreciated.

1) For my motivation essays, I have chosen to discuss personal experiences vs work experiences based on what is meaningful to me. Do you think I should make it a point to switch out one of the examples in my achievement/failure essay to a work experience?

2) For my achievement essay, the achievement is about my experience/results as a Director of a club in my last year of university. I think it's quite impactful, but it is 6 years old. Do you think I should select a more recent achievement?

3) My 2 selected recommenders are my current Director (boss' boss) and my previous Director. I've worked for the same company since grad, but in 2 distinct roles, so I think this paints a full picture. However, my previous Director worked with me from Aug 2015 to Oct 2017. Given this is not recent, I'm debating asking my current boss to write a 3rd optional letter. It may be a little repetitive though, do you think this will hurt or help my chances?

Thanks!

Just received an email this morning letting me know I had been selected for interviews (in Montreal, which is where I currently live). Extremely excited about this.

Also, I just wanted to share with you the 4 video essay questions I had to answer when applying R1 for September 2019 intake. Best of luck to R2 applicants!

- How do you keep abreast on the latest about INSEAD?
- Describe a time you had a culture shock?
- You are leading a group project with a team who have never met each other and are from diverse culturual/professional/educational backgrounds. What is your strategy for how to foster a collaborative environment?
- How do you stay focused on your company vision?
