Hello All,
Sorry a little late to the party. So here is my case:
1- Applied: J-term May 12th (super early as you can see)
2- Got Interview invitation on June 23rd
3- Interviewed on June 30th
4- Interview submitted and complete on July 6th
5- Waitlisted on August 11th (just at 12 week mark… pretty bad day but still keeping hopeful)
Profile: International, GMAT 740, Undergrad and Masters in Engineering International, Consulting Engineering/Project Management field, 26 years old
You see, it’s funny since my interview went really good, and after the admissions called my references and I’m pretty sure they gave really good feedback as well. So I though I had a good go at it. My interviewer was extremely nice and after hearing that I got waitlisted he sent an additional recommendation in for me. A month after being waitlisted I sent in an update on some stuff on my side as well, and as far as I know it has all been added to my file for review later ( if any ever happens I guess).
Congrats to everyone who got in. You worked hard and earned your spot. Enjoy your time now and recharge your batteries before school starts. Perhaps I get to be in with you guys as well!
On the side note, a general question, anyone have any idea if there is anything I can be doing at moment that can increase my chances of getting in? It looks as some guys here are re-applicants and have more experience than I do, so just reaching out for help… anything you have noticed from last years forums perhaps that helped waitlisters, etc.
Cheers, and let me know of anything else I can provide.
Ohh yeah, here is the respond you get when you are waitlisted if that’s of any help to anyone!
Thank you for applying to Columbia Business School. After careful review and consideration by the Admissions Committee, we are unable to offer you admission at this time. However, we recognize the strengths of your application and would like to defer our final decision until later in the application cycle. Therefore, we are offering you a place on the waitlist.
If you are willing to be patient and accept a place on our waitlist, please send an email to
waitlist@gsb.columbia.edu and enter “Remain on Waitlist” in the subject line. In addition, please provide your preferred email address and telephone number. A member of the Admission Committee will contact you if there is a need for direct communication or if we have questions. It is important to that you use this email address to ensure that related correspondence is matched with your application.
We frequently get questions regarding this process. We hope the following will answer some of them.
• How does the waitlist work?
Like our regular process, the waitlist is rolling. You may receive a final decision at any time, but it may be as late as December 15. If you wish to remove your name from the waitlist, please contact us at
waitlist@gsb.columbia.edu.
• Is the list ranked?
No. It is our goal to admit a well-rounded, diverse class.
• May I submit additional materials to supplement my application?
We do not encourage it, but if there has been a significant change since you submitted your application (improved GMAT score, promotion at work, completion of CFA or other credential or class), please share this with us via an email to
waitlist@gsb.columbia.edu.
• How often is the waitlist evaluated?
There is no regular schedule, but the process is rolling and therefore continual. You may receive a final decision at any time during the process.
• How many applicants are on the waitlist?
The size of the waitlist changes frequently throughout the cycle.
• Can I request feedback, an interview or meeting with a member of the Admissions Committee?
Due to the volume of applicants, we cannot accommodate individual requests. A member of the Admissions Committee will contact you, if we have specific questions. However, we encourage you to learn more about Columbia during this time by attending events and presentations, visiting classes and stopping by the Admissions Office in 216 Uris Hall.
We appreciate your interest in Columbia Business School, and we ask for patience and understanding during this process.
Sincerely,
The Admissions Committee
