Does anyone else hope that CBS doesn't have a record of how many times per day you log in to check for a status change?

So it turns out the previous call was just a tease. I got another call today. I'm in. The Friday phone call conspiracy theory stays in tact.

btw, these were the questions in my follow up interview:
1) Regarding a timeslip in my resume. After college I travelled around Europe and taught conversational English in Japan. They just wanted to hear how that led up to my current position. I focused on how these experiences fed into my current career goals.
2) What are short term and long term goals? I just fed the same answer from my alumni interview.
3) What's my back up plan? <-- I suspect #2 was just a set up for this one. In my alumni interview I answered what I would do if I didn't get in to CBS. They actually wanted to hear what I would do if #2 didn't pan out as planned. Whoops!

Congrats! Thanks for the insight, i'm still waiting on my outcome. Ah its cutting it quite close for J-Term!

At the risk of overanalyzing I added a field to record the day of the week of decisions.

At the risk of overanalyzing I added a field to record the day of the week of decisions.

I'm not sure how helpful that field will be since some people find out by phone and others online. The online date is the true date of admission (it's what the acceptance letter will cite); it's just that some of us were fortunate to be offered a preview of the decision by phone. Moving forward, I can only assume a decreasing proportionate of admits will receive phone calls.

I am in a bit of a confusion here -
I submitted my application 5 days back (ED) and within 2 days my status changed to "your application is being printed for review" - I presumed that my application was checked and it was considered complete.
Just out of curiosity I logged into the website today and now my status has changed to "Your application is incomplete" - I have written a mail to adcom - any suggestions ?

Have any Round 1, regular decision applicants heard back yet? I completed my application in early August and haven't heard a peep. It's supposed to be rolling admission, but I think that they must be processing all ED applications before regular decision... Any thoughts?

All you can do is wait to hear from them. Hopefully it's something innocuous that you left blank and can rectify quickly. In my case, the system truncated my name in my profile, so it didn't match my application. I had to fix my profile name and the status changed to "Under Review" later that day.

The adcom informed me that I need to give TOFEL as well -

I thought students who earned undergrad in an institute where mode of instruction is English were exempted from TOFEL (this is the condition in most B-schools)
But turns out Columbiay also needs the institution to be based in a country in which English is the primary official language for exempting TOFEL
So all non US/UK/Australia/NZ applicants need to give TOFEL ?

Man five days post application submission, I get to learn this - all the effort to submit early in ED is wasted

Do you guys think it is safe to assume that the applicants who had submitted early Aug & didn't update their status were dinged?

No, its not to safe to assume that people who submitted in early August and haven't reported back were Dinged. I submitted August 2nd but I'm not updating until my interview is done and the application is complete, because I'm paranoid about admissions reading threads like this. I'll let you guys know if I'm dinged though.

Some others got in and didn't update because there was no need for them to be on the forum anymore.
Don't overthink it.

Due date for applications is October 6, 2010. But is it too risky to apply this late? Would I be better of applying September 2011 with Early Decision?

Obvious question: how far are you?

are you done with all the application components?
essay, transcripts etc

Haven't started the essays? probably best to wait, what about round 2 of this year though?

If your a REALLY good writer and you have all the components (GMAT and Transcripts) then you could theoretically finish it off.

I hate that I am using this as an example but Sylvester Stallone wrote Rocky 1 over the weekend and won an oscar!
Can you believe Sly has an Oscar? and for writing too! I mean come on!
