I got an invite via email (see below). Columbia has always been my top choice; I have been checking my email like crazy.

Seeing posts here where people got interviews after applying on Oct 7th had me worried. Only thing that gave me hope was that I applied super late. Wish I would have applied two days sooner.

From Hong Kong. Not yet.

Just a random thought, could international students bit subjected to a slightly slower timeline?

Indeed quite possible. Like the idea!

Or perhaps we all internationals are trying to latch onto the last available string of the rope! or of hope...

Thanks. All the best for your interview. Do you mind sharing your profile as I am curious to know why did you get ding from Wharton when CBS invited you for the interview.

I understand that every school is inherently different but if you do get called up by one of the top schools, I believe you were able to showcase your profile in the best possible light!!

Just got rejected after interview.

I thought my interview went pretty well. Does anyone know what kind of things they look for in it?

Sorry to hear about your decision. Do you mind sharing your profile? You definitely need to talk and make sure to have your application on the same page as to what kind of a profile do you want the adcoms to have of you. Sometimes with top schools it is more of a lottery than any rhyme or reason. All the best for your remaining applications.

I think they mainly look for two things:

1) if you have a solid post-mba plan
2) if you really, really want Columbia

Any RD applicants hear back yet. I submitted 10/6 so I know I should not expect much yet, but wondering if any of the earlier submissions heard back?

Interviewer knew Columbia was my top choice as I gave clear reasons for why Columbia why Nyc. I also made sure she knew I was applying ED. She even commented "you have clearly done your research"

Only things I can think of which could have got me the ding was they didn't like my post MBA goal - IB or they thought I was too finance-y

Male/Asian (I know, sucks)

I asked nicely, and my interviewer said she had actually submitted positive feedback.
Seems like the admissions office had made up their mind already, so not sure why they offered an interview in the first place.

Oh well, a little disappointing, but moving on! I have a couple other interviews anyway.
