There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
Applied early morning on the 7th. No response yet. Had a feeling 730 wont be enoigh
Throwing in the towel. A friend who applied late on the 7th got a reply Saturday morning. Feeling heartbroken
I'm with you. 730 is more than enough, when their average is 715. I was kind of confident about CBS... really hurts to have not even received an invite...

It's looking difficult by the hour. More than a few who applied on the 7th have been called. Won't give up just yet though. Would need to hear that from the school to bring about a closure. Does anyone know the timeline for a ding w/o the interview?

Don't lose hope. Last year 28% of club applicants were interviewed for ED. So far this year it's showing 14% so there's still room for more interviews. I'm on the same boat as you and to repeat what others have said, it ain't over til it's over.

You guys are putting too much weight on the GMAT, if you get dinged with a 730 you need to think about how your application could have been put together better and what your other weak areas were. That will provide you the most mileage on revamping your strategy.

It's generally been 5-6 weeks until people hear about dings without interviews. The way Columbia works is that, if the first adcom didn't recommend you for interview, it will go to further review and multiple people sign off before dinging you. Whereas if the first adcom recommends you for interview there is no further review before the interview (just before acceptance/denial).
Hey all - got the call last Wednesday. The whole process went by suprisingly fast - only four weeks from submission to acceptance! Looking forward to meeting all of you.
I'm not sure if they're still on the same fast turnaround schedule though - I assume that with their current workload from Oct 6/7 that two days from interview to acceptance is not going to be the story in November.
For all the ED applicants nervous about not hearing back about an interview yet...
I have been to two Columbia Information sessions. During each sessions, the speakers were very clear that they start reviewing the applications in the order that they were received. The decisions are not released in the order that the applications are received.
Received an acceptance call a few hours ago, timeline below!
Application submitted: 9/30 Interview invite: 10/21 Interview set up and confirmed: 10/25 Interview date: 10/30 Interview feedback submitted: 10/31 Acceptance: 11/2 (I received an email from an Adcom member requesting that I call)
Just an FYI, I'm a reapplicant (applied ED last year and was dinged with no interview invite)
Are you guys following any general rules in picking the interviewer? My list of 6 is very finance heavy and I'm not remotely familiar with that field. I did 4 years consulting and moved to corporate planning
Hey guys! Was a lurker for some time and finally deciding to join I submitted my app on November 1st so I'm assuming I won't be hearing back until mid-December or so. Hopefully that's not too late for RD..!
Good luck to everyone who is waiting to hear back from ED decisions.
Also according to LiveWire...looks like they're already started sending out a rejection email to one candidate from India on October 29th. Here's what it says:
October 29, 2015 4:59pm Rejected at Columbia via email. GMAT: 690 Round: Early Decision | India Note: cc
Heard from a n acquaintance in CBS, the adcoms are off today and tomorrow. So people who are waiting for an answer should wait till Wednesday atleast.
Don't mean to disagree - but a few got calls today. Doesn't that mean the AdCom is in?
Tonyko - congratulations, buddy! Really happy for ya!

No problem in disagreeing. Sending out calls might be a different process to reviewing apps (IMO). The same people who review the apps might not be the people sending out calls as well. We all are awaiting some sort of an answer now.

Got the call today! Could not be happier! CBS has always been my first choice. Thanks to everyone here who kept people posted on timelines. It helped manage expectations throughout the process.
