I had my TAE yesterday and am sharing a detailed note for references.
*Before the test*
- You receive mail ~50 hours before your scheduled time. You need to do a systems check using their application and post that only you will get the exam link.
- You'll need an additional device as a secondary camera throughout the test.
*During the test*
- Keep your passport, a few sheets of paper, a pen, and most importantly a calculator (which I didn't keep). Any calculator is okay.
- Set up your laptop and phone as instructed, then rotate your phone to show your surroundings.
- After that, a different link will appear on the screen along with a userID and password, which you will use to start the actual test.
*Actual Test*
- Divided into 3 sections, which you need to take in order
- The sufficiency section has 16 questions; it consists of 8 verbal and 8 quant questions, which come simultaneously. For each negative answer there is a deduction of 0.25 from the overall score.
- The verbal section has 25 questions; all the questions follow true/false/not-applicable answer patterns. For every paragraph you get around 5-6 questions. For each negative answer there is a deduction of 0.5 from the overall score.
- The Quant section has 25 easy/medium-level questions if you are following the GMAT style. All of them are graph-/average-/percentage-/table-based questions. For each negative answer there is a deduction of 0.33 from the overall score.
*Overall experience*
- The timer shown is not reliable, as for me it showed just 3 minutes remaining while I started the second section. So keep in mind to have 30 minutes for section 1 and 35 minutes for each other section.
- The text paragraph is so congested, and the text size is quite small to read easily, so try to keep the cursor while reading.
- The time only counts while you are inside the section, so once you complete a section, you can take a short break but do not get up from your seat. You need to be in front of the camera.
- There were no tricky questions; I personally gave without any prep and was able to finish the test on time (also skipped a few questions).
