Should I apply to HEC Paris in Round 3 if I require financial need based scholarship ?

Rituz

HEC typically does not have much room to award scholarships in R3 (but they try their best). Interesting story, one of my R3 admits to HEC last year, who was initially refused financial assistance repeatedly, managed to convince the school in person when he joined (even though it wasn't that significant because the school really plans the budget for the rounds ahead of time).

Reach out for a free profile assessment, comprehensive interview preparation or end to end guidance on B School applications. We do not cap discussion hours with applicants

311 GRE with 161Q, should I apply for the MiM program?

Sarah967744 - Officially, there is no minimum GRE cut-off for applying to the MiM program. The general median range is 310-320, ofcourse the higher the better. Since you haven't shared other details of your profile (undergrad majors/ scores, work-ex, international exposure, career goals, etc.) it's difficult to assess further. Broadly though, I would suggest a retake if possible (given the lower V score) to increase your chances.

Should I apply to HEC Paris in Round 3 if I require financial need based scholarship ?

Rituz - HEC Paris MBA alum here. If you are referring to the MBA program (which has 10-11 application i.e. monthly rounds), a strong profile would certainly be considered for scholarships in Round 3. I've linked below the official site, which lists the various scholarship options that HEC offers: you could apply to ones based on your profile/ geography. The best way to clarify queries on scholarships though would be to speak to the HEC Recruitment manager for your region, they would have the latest updates.

Any idea how long it takes for the review? It’s been ~5 days since I filled out the application but haven’t heard back yet. Only got an acknowledgement email.

Do you refer to the profile feedback form? If yes, it is quite fast. I submitted the form yesterday and received a feedback today

Hi, has anyone applied for the 11 September round and heard back about the pre-selection result? I'm asking with regard to the January 2024 intake but I see that there was a similar deadline for the September 2024 intake as well, so any information is welcome! Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have an idea about when HEC will release the results of the September deadline for its MBA Sep’24 intake? It has already been over two weeks since the September deadline.

And what is the average gre score required for an Indian engineer?

HEC hasn't yet officially announced their average GRE score yet. The school strongly encourages candidates to submit a GRE score that is at or above the 65th percentile for Q and V. The last stated GMAT average is 690, which broadly translates to a 326 GRE. For an Indian engineer, aiming 2-3 points above this would be recommended.

We've added in some sample HEC essays here (these are my essays from when I got admitted in 2018):

MananShah070296

Schools typically publish the average score for the entire cohort. Pinpointing the average for a specific subgroup within a demographic can be quite challenging. Nonetheless, if you're applying in the later rounds with a strong profile, achieving a high percentile Quantitative score coupled with a well-balanced Verbal score should be sufficient. I would recommend aiming for a score above 325. A score around 330 will certainly garner strong consideration. Ultimately, the extent to which HEC values your profile and the quality of your application will be the deciding factor.

Hope you will find some use from my top-level tips for attacking the HEC Essays. Have added a couple of winning examples and ideas into it but unable to share full-fledged real essays of admitted applicants due to ethics code. You may speak with me to get a read on your profile.
