Calling all IESE MBA Applicants: 2024 Intake Class of 2026 [#permalink]
Expert Reply
Hi Avani - are you making reference to the fact that you are applying to the last round because you think maybe you need all of the advantages you can get?

I do think it would make sense to ask for a profile review and ask for ways that you could maximize your odds applying in the last round of somebody who is overrepresented. That would have enough specificity to have a quality conversation.

Another route to take would be asking about the values held at IESE that might be different from other schools. This is a little bit more nebulous - but also people tend to be very passionate talking around these types of subjects. (Mission, Values, purpose, etc)

Yes, I was able to find them on on my application. I suppose what I meant was that I wasn’t quite sure how to begin the conversation haha

Got it, thank you! Also, I know different schools have different systems here but did anyone reach out to the regional directors or any members of the admissions committee before submitting the application and stay connected throughout the application process? I’m considering that solely because I’m applying in the later rounds (for a good reason) and I know the general consensus is that applying in the earlier rounds is always better

Avani004 - the best way to reach out to IESE AdCom is by sending an email and requesting a 1:1 meeting to discuss your profile. If they don't respond for a while, LinkedIn outreach is fine.

If you're applying in the later rounds, one of the potential concerns that AdComs may have (playing the devil's advocate) is how serious you're about the school e.g. why didn't you plan/ apply earlier? Do you have other offers and are looking at their school as another option? etc. The best way to address these is to have a honest chat with them, and present a strong application.

For some insights from IESE Adcom (Tomofumi Nishida) on topics including your query, you could check out here

I strongly suggest to reach out to your admissions director. Also, I recommend you to participate in the events held by the School. Compared to other schools I have applied, I felt IESE is very particular about whether student understands the school, what it offers, and how it is special well or not. They gauge this by your participation in the events and your interactions with the admissions directors. When I had call with my admissions director, he mentioned that he has noted that I attended X,Y,Z events held by school even without me mentioning this which means that they have been keenly following the participants.

Is it mandate to take IELTS or TOEFL even if the medium of instruction is English in UG?

Nopes, u can mention the same reason in your application.
However, check whether your transcripts explicitly mention your medium of instruction as English.
If not, and you have the time, u can reach out to the Adcom team via email highlighting the same. If the deadline is approaching, you can directly mention this reason for not appearing for Toefl/ielts

Hi. Just curious - the intimation which was earlier provided isn’t final? What is required for final confirmation?

I am also hoping to get an early decision.

What did you cite as your reason for early decision
