Hi Shantanik, thanks for the feedback.

Regarding the sequence, it really depends on the availability of the alum/interviewer. Even this year, some candidates have their assessment day scheduled before the interview, while others have it the other way around.

regards,
arvind

Hi Arvind,

Thanks for this. A very helpful read indeed. Do you know if the order of the assessment day and interview has changed since last year? For me, the online interview is taking place before the assessment. But reading your write-up I felt that it was the other way round last year. Can you confirm if things have changed this year?

Thanks,
Shatanik

I got an interview and assessment day invite. What's the difference between this and just an interview invite?
Hi shatanik08 ! At your assessment day, you have a case discussion in a group (take initiative and contribute to the discussion, support others, and stay actively engaged, just make sure not to dominate the conversation) where you have to discuss the case and make a decision as a team (How would you make that decision? data supporting your decision? how the decision would affect others?). Here the applicants get a chance to showcase their collaborative skills and overall fit for IESE’s values and community, while in a personal interview session, which approximately lasts for 30-60 minutes is typically conducted by a member of the Admissions Committee, who are often IESE alumni. You'll get questions around (leadership, teamwork, behavioral, Why MBA, why now, why IESE? about yourself, any questions for them). Give your best shot. All the very best!

Looking forward to apply in the upcoming rounds. Book your profile evaluation call NOW.

Is there an advantage to doing the assessment day in person compared to doing it virtually? I have an option to go to New York for the assessment day but money is tight at the moment so I am trying to decide the best course of action.

Hi @slink17 , there should be no evaluative difference between the two formats. But yes, attending assessment day in person has it’s own perks, it can provide valuable face-to-face interactions and a firsthand experience of the campus environment. However, if financial constraints make travel challenging, opting for the virtual assessment day is entirely acceptable and shall not disadvantage your application. It’s important to choose the format that best aligns with your circumstances. They have also mentioned it in one of the BLOGs. You shall always check with the alumni for such details. Is anyone aware of an application fee waiver?
Hey ss1203 ! For IESE MBA program there’s no widely advertised waiver, but the reapplicants to the Young Talent Path (YTP) program qualify for one. The best would be to contact the adcom directly for more information regarding this, as some schools do provide opportunities for application fee waivers to the participants attending certain events.

Hi MBAand

Oops, my bad – I mistakenly hit the send button.

I have been invited to the Assessment Day, and I would like to know if the discussion will last the entire 2.5 hour. There are a couple of preparation questions; will each of us present our answers one by one before the team discussion?

Thank you for your help!

Hi ab2029
Hope you understand this is just not enough information to judge a candidate's potential. If it were, people wouldn’t be writing long resumes and essays in the applications :)
Hope you have a strong career growth progression to show for your 6+ years of work experience and solid insights into your post-MBA goals. Do your research well. Your NGO work sounds impressive, but again, can’t judge a book by its cover.

I am taking some profile evaluations this month so if you want to discuss your case in detail feel free to reach out

Best wishes

The session can last about 2.5 hours approx. and includes multiple components designed to evaluate candidates holistically (At some point you may also feel dull and that you are lacking interest but you must be attentive, that said, it would depend on the candidates too). The formats may also vary, it typically features a group discussion centered around a case study or set of prepared questions. In some cases, participants may be asked to share their individual responses before transitioning into a team discussion. (Note: It's better to prepare a brief introduction about yourself to ease the introductory exercises, as they may also ask for something unique about you. You may also have multiple group sessions.) Just keep in mind that the team wants to assess both independent thinking and collaborative skills. To prepare effectively, review the provided materials thoroughly and be ready to communicate your ideas clearly while demonstrating strong teamwork and active listening. If possible, try to get in touch with alumni for the latest updates and insights on the AD.

Good luck!

Hey guys, could someone please share their R2 interview experience here.
Hi Blair15! So, IESE interviews are typically conducted by adcom members or alumni and focus on behavioral and motivational questions, assessing candidates' backgrounds, career goals, and fit with IESE. Depending on the interviewer, either an alumnus or admcom, the experience may vary, with alumni providing a peer perspective and adcom following a more standardized evaluation. To prepare effectively, candidates should familiarize themselves with IESE’s values and be ready to showcase your leadership experiences and problem-solving skills. While the experience may differ for each applicant, you can get an idea from this on what to expect in the interview process. Sharing the experience of one of our applicants, from R2 interview!

The applicant liked the overall experience. Interviewed with the MBA Admissions Director, she was super friendly and it was very conversational. She asked the standard TMAY, Goals, Why MBA now, Why IESE questions at the beginning then when they started to really get into the behavioral questions they established a lot of common ground and time went by really fast. The interview time was 1 hr and the last 10mins was questions from the applicant.

Good luck everyone!
