Are we going to be given multiple options for the extempore ? Like if we are clueless about a certain topic.
There will be a bowl full of papers folded into chits (like raja, mantri, chor, sipahi). You will randomly select one chit, open it and read the topic. If you like the topic, you can go ahead. However, in case you do not like the topic, you can take one more attempt. If you go in for a second time, you will have to mandatorily go ahead with the second topic and you cannot revert back to the first one.

Thanks ! How long is the extempore ? And how much is the prep time ?

Nothing is sacrosanct. You take around 45-60 secs to prepare and then speak for another 3 mins. Further questions and discussion depends on how much of juice is available in it for the penalist to grill you.

Mine was:

Online platforms have very high valuations. Should investors be weary of it.

My topic: Large firms should allow their talented employees to have a spin off and start their own companies with buy back options.

Below are some of the topics I collected from the people I met during the interview:

Should road travel be made free!? (No tolls)
Should government hospitals be privatized given their abysmal state?
Midday meal schemes are an unnecessary freebie?
Platform startups are overhyped and their valuations are unjustified?

thank you so much! :D

Might be silly question, but guys, what attire did you go with for interview? Business casuals can translate to polos and trouser but just want to be sure.

Go in formal attire. If you can wear a suit, nothing like it.

I had collected some of it from the previous year interview debriefs. Here it is:

Should usage of cannabis be legalized in India?
Startup valuations are too high to justify their potential. VCs need to take a hard look at their investments.
Should online content be censored?
Globalization is overrated, countries should focus on local manufacturing.
Is corruption amongst low earning government servants acceptable?
Politicians should be banned from contesting elections in India if they have pending criminal cases against them.
Changing city names is wrong and it should be banned.
Can leadership skills be taught in class.
was Adani group right in taking down their ads after Saurab Ganguly’s heart attack?
Should families earning income above a certain level support a family earning below a certain threshold in COVID-19 like situation?
Standardized test GMAT/GRE do not play much of a role in assessment for B-school.
Do you think IIM Ahmedabad should open campuses in USA to study about emerging markets?
Do you think Atma Nirbhar Bharat is a political gimmick and Chinese imports can’t be replaced in near future?
India should support big firms to enter global marketplace. If Companies within India compete within themselves will lose the global game.
Business education degree doesn’t matter to grow in the corporate ladder.
shortage of food grains in India can be solved only by improving storage facilities.

Anyone who’s gone through the interview, could you share where you read up about the current affairs bit?

Also, any recommendations for where one could get a mock interview?

I had my interview at Hyderabad today but no extempore. Not sure if that happened with others. Interview was very short 15mins overall. Would like to hear from others.

Was this (no extempore) the same for the other candidates who were with you? Did the panel ask anything relating to estimation of values etc?

I'm not sure if that was the same for others I did not see others. No questions on any topics. The only questions were challenges and why MBA. Not sure how to judge this experience.
