From what we have known, ISB provides feedback to reapplicants. Can anyone share about the same...

Feedback about their application.

Good morning everyone

Needed some help with my profile evaluation.

I completed my 10/12th with 90 & 80%. Did my Btech in civil with 77%. I got 615 in my focus edition with Q82/V84/DI 76. I have served in the Indian Navy for 10 years. I have been involved with managing high stakes projects involving foreign Navies including coordination with PMO. I have led various diverse teams which included upto 100/150 men at a time

Extracurricular- was part of RD parade in 2015. Im a runner/ swimmer and a fitness enthusiast. I have organised Navy half marathon in Mumbai.

Is there a requirement for me to get a better score for admission to ISB? Also what is the score range required to apply for scholarships.

Regards

Some more datapoints can help assess better: your undergrad pedigree (tier-1/ tier-2 etc.), motivation for MBA, post-MBA career goals, and strength of the professional arc (achievements, skillsets gained etc.: this would require discussions).

Regarding Extracurriculars, recent and consistent involvement would be valued.

ISB accepts a number of army/ navy veterans each year. Given their breadth of experiences and transferable skills, and how well these are portrayed in the application, some do succeed with lower-than-average GMAT. Probabilistically though, if you improve the GMAT (ISB’s average is ~675 GFE equivalent), that would increase chances of both admission and scholarships.

Ayushi_Verma You have an exceptional profile. To assist transitioning officers like you, I've written about opportunities that can be researched to convince B schools of your abilities that are well-suited for post-MBA careers. Feel free to take advantage of this.

PSU Folks,Military/Navy Veterans, Engineers, SCM Mgrs- Goals Strategy : ISB (gmatclub.com)

Admissions committees deeply admire women leading the charge in the grimmest of situations that call for high-contact stakeholder management and maneuvering. I routinely work with military and navy candidates, so do consider having a candid chat about prospective schools. Your gmat should improve, but there are nuances to it. IIM A PGPX has admitted Navy candidates with very low GRE scores, so you might consider switching after an analysis. We'd be happy to discuss this in more detail.

Best wishes

rahulbatra65   Your mock scores are quite something! I would be rooting for your magic to work in the final test :)
That aside, you seem to be only barely eligible for the PGP application. Why do you think this is the right time for an MBA from ISB? You don't have to answer me right here, but know that your entire application strategy should be built around this question. I am happy to learn you have had strong academic performance in college (batch topper in your area). There is good content to create quality narrative, but how it will all come together at the end will determine what ISB thinks of you. You missed mentioning what you would like to do post MBA. Even though ISB made the question optional in the application, overall, you cannot create solid essays without hinting toward what the entirety of your experience could lead to post-MBA. In a world where people themselves are becoming brands, the schools can now not overlook the immense potential for someone with your skills. Just do good research into the post-MBA roles and stay away from generic ones because your profile is different. Happy to advise further.

Best wishes

Sorry missed this:

I actually started working full time in september 2021, that said, but because that was when I was in college, I didn’t add it in here. Techincally speaking, as of April 2025, I will have close to 4 years of exp. Post MBA: I wish to become a brand manager at a services/tech based company (which is my current speciality right now)

To add to this, I learnt photshop at the age of 12/13, created a youtube channel at 14 and have always been creative somehow. Fun fact, I learnt about copywriting (my current profile is Copy Supervisor) through mad men.

Does this help?

Hi,

I would appreciate it if someone could evaluate my profile for MBA admissions.

Academic Background:

10th and 12th Grades: 84%
B.Tech: 9.13 CGPA (2016) - VIT vellore
M.Tech: 7.91 (scholarship course 2018-20). IIT Delhi

Professional Experience:

- Post-graduation, I worked in the infrastructure industry, mainly in project management and stakeholder management.
- In July 2022, I switched to the social impact sector, driven by my passion for the field. I had a gap from January to June 2022 as I quit my corporate job.
- Joined Clinton Health Access Initiative as an Analyst, leading activities related to a women-centric program in collaboration with the state government. Unfortunately, I was laid off due to lack of donor funding, resulting in a 9-month gap (March to December 2023).
- Currently, I am working as a Program Manager at a social tech enterprise focusing on international development projects in Asia and the MENA region.

Post-MBA Goals:

- I aspire to work with international development agencies such as USAID, UN, or philanthropic organisations such as BMGF, etc.

Additional Information:

- Co-curricular activities - While I don’t have significant achievements to highlight, I have volunteered for NGOs, teaching school kids and mentoring college students.

- GMAT: 690 (Classic). I am aiming to improve my score and will be taking the GMAT Focus soon.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Pradeepsix6

Your profile is strong with a compelling combination of academics,
work experience, and a stellar GMAT score. Here's how you can
strengthen your application further:

1. Quantify the impact of leading a team of 400. Did you streamline
processes, improve efficiency, or achieve specific production targets?
2. Use your essays to showcase your career goals, motivation for
pursuing an MBA, and how an ISB program aligns with your aspirations.

Overall, your profile is competitive for ISB admissions. Focus on
highlighting your professional and personal achievements, leadership
and team skills, and a clear career goal.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards
Team ISBMantra

DD16, Overall a solid profile, especially the workex and the clarity of your goals. Acads are good and the slight lack of co-curricular can be covered by the stuff you’ve done at work.
It’s good that you’re planning a re-take of the GMAT. Don’t have a target in mind and go for the best score you can get. Otherwise a 690 is worth a shot.

While you can make it to ISB, do research well on the impact sector opportunities post-PGP, especially in the firms you’re targeting. While you can get into the likes of Samagra and CHAI/BMGF (if they visit campus), you’ll largely need to look for opportunities through the network. Couple of my classmates made the transition toward the sector and have worked in CHAI (you may know Arnab Pal) and BMGF and they did it through the ISB network. If schools abroad are an option, then you should consider Oxford and Yale (as a moonshot). Feel free to reach out if you’d like a detailed chat.
All the best!
Cheers,

EEO and YLP programs are discontinued. You’ll apply with general cohort who may have comparatively more work exp than you. May want to consider having slightly more work exp of atleast a year (total 4-4.5)along with a GMAT (old version) between 710-740 and you’ll break in.

After college, along with my job, I have been a constant part of Open Mic clubs in Delhi and performed for the likes of Amar Ujala, Kommune.

Post-MBA goals:

Post MBA I plan to continue in Tech, with focus on Programme Management or Digital Transformation as this is the area that I have worked and find my mind and heart in

Can you please help me with my prospects?

Hi Harshit,

I like your profile very much. The combination of SCM + marketing exp makes for a unique profile. Your work at Sprinklr sounds exciting and suggests that you got a good deal of experience working with decision makers in a variety of industries. these could be aspects to highlight in the essays or the LOR.
The ECAs are interesting, but do you also have some which are more recent?
The goals look aligned with your current work exp. One caution here would be that your goals don't sound like the next position jump. You made the move from ops/ SCM to marketing without an MBA, so its possible to move from the current role to digital transformation without an MBA. So, think a little deeper about the goals - what would be aspirational yet realistic and would require an MBA. Alternatively, what gaps in your knowledge / toolkit do you need to cover through an MBA before you can get to your desired role for the short term and the long term.
Feel free to reach out for a more in-depth profile discussion.

@VaidsAgarwal - some thoughts:

1. The GPA is a bit on the lower side - aiming for a strong GMAT (GFE equivalent of 740+) would be ideal.

2. Your entrepreneurial stints sound interesting, but would like to understand your achievements in these roles to better assess. To that end, it would be crucial to bring out your functional learnings and skill-sets gained, and how/ why an MBA (and particularly ISB) would help.

3. The link to your post-MBA goals (in Finance) isn't clear - would like to discuss this deeper to understand/ advise.

4. Extracurriculars seem alright. Recency and consistency would be key here, and quality is better than quantity i.e. it's better to deepdive into 2-3 activities and highlight your learnings and growth.

Hope this helps a bit.

Regards,
Arvind
