It’s not true that schools don’t prefer candidates with an MBA. The issue is that many applicants with a prior MBA struggle to justify the need for another. If you have a compelling story to explain it, it might not be a problem, so avoid generalizations.

Right now, I believe your GMAT score is on the lower side. As a potential future SEC (Senior Executive’s Club) member with 8+ years of experience, they may be evaluating you differently. A 705 on GMAT FE could definitely strengthen your case. However, my concern remains your higher work experience—you’ll need to clearly show how you can contribute to the cohort while demonstrating a strong appetite for learning.

bhardwaj25, sorry forgot to mention the above message is for you :P

Hi, first time applying for ISB and would like to request for a profile review for R1:
1) 9.8 CGPA in Class X
2) 75% in Class XII Science
3) 7.75 CGPA in Computer Engineering from a Tier 3 Uni
4) GRE 328(161V, 167Q)
5) 30 months work experience in IT Services
I do have diverse extracurricular activities, however, nothing exceptional.
GRE score is good. Class XII and Graduation GPA might pose a challenge. Work-ex is on the lower end of the spectrum. If you could bring out something unique in your IT services experience or leadership skills or extracurriculars, that should definitely help. Be really clear about your goals and how ISB fits in the picture. Wish you the best for your application. You can always reach out to Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for any support or guidance

Lonewolf19
Reason 2: Rejected in interview in EEO, 5 months back, so they are telling to wait
Are there any significant developments in your profile in the last 5 months? If you are able to bring out those recent improvements clearly in your essays, R1 should also be fine. But if the profile is largely similar with no major changes then makes sense to improve your score further (given you are confident it can be further improved) and then apply in R2. Feel free to reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for a more detailed conversation

Hi all, I submitted my application a few mins back. When I downloaded the PDF version of submitted app, I noticed that the ‘Description’ column from the ‘Extra Curricular Participation’ section was missing.
Is it just for my application or has anyone else noticed this as well? Should I reach out to the Adcom?

I’m not aware of any method to download the report. But there’s a way to screenshot the entire webpage.
First make sure your personal details are open.
Right-click on the page and click inspect.
On the top left of the inspector window, you’ll see an icon named "Toggle device bar". Click on it.
You’ll notice a new bar has appeared on top of your webpage (It has a dimensions box)
Enter 1920x1080 in the box
On the same bar, there’s a drop-down arrow on the right end.
Click on it and click on "Capture full size screenshot". A png file will be downloaded.

This is applicable for google chrome

While not mandatory, it’s best practice to keep it concise.

Hi everyone
I'm planning to apply for ISB and just wanted to know what are the chances for the candidate who is already an MBa but from a Tier 3 college (been getting a lot of advice that colleges don't prefer candidate already with an MBA
Very decent chances bhardwaj25, obviously assuming the rest of the application and GMAT score are decent.

Hello Consultants,
Please evaluate my MBA applicant profile.

10th: 93.6%

12th: I haven’t studied 12th. Instead I have a 3 year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 93%

Undergrad: 3 year BE in Automotive Engineering. Lateral entry in 2nd year of engineering. 8.5 CGPA with Distinction & University 2nd Rank holder

Postgrad: 8.8 CGPA. ME in Automotive Engg. Had done a 9 months project internship at DRDO’s R&D Division. This was part of my Master’s Thesis

Work Experience: Total 8 years as of now. Working in 4th Company.

For first 3 years, I had worked in Indian Tier 1 engine component supplier as Product Development & Application engineer. After that till now, working as core R&D simulation engineer for electric & hybrid vehicle components. Also my previous tenure was with a leading e2wheeler startup.

Key highlights of my work ex:

Worked in multitudes of Engineering - Product Development, Manufacturing, Core R&D

Developed a work related course and trained more than 50 peers globally as multiple two full day classroom trainings

Enhanced efficiency of a analysis process which brought down 80% of time taken and resulted in a savings of 1M euro in global sites and shorter new product development lead times

Implemented multiple methods to improve correlation on simulations and design calculations, which eliminated multiple design iteration cycles and extensive testing. This resulted in a new electric 2wheeler in 6 months.

Developed scripts and macros for process automation and improved efficiency by 150%

Currently working as a Lead Engineer in a newly incubated Technical Center of a Global Tier 1 supplier which specializes in Autonomous vehicle capabilities, supporting Global sites in electronic hardware development. Also, having roles & responsibilities in developing the site as a Global Technical Center, which will include identifying and building new capabilities of team, standardizing work flows, recruiting new talent, planning training, exploring applications of Machine Learning & Digital twin in Product development.

Roles in Focus: With my experience in product development and R&D, after MBA, Product Manager, Manufacturing & Operations Management in Automotive & Energy Sector. Also, interested in Consultant roles for Auto & EV sector.

No Extra Curricular Activities worth mentioning in a MBA application.

Planning to apply in R2 of ISB and R3 of IIMs’ Ex-MBA. Scheduled GMAT FE exam on October. Scoring 675-695 in mocks. Targeting to score more than 695.

Expecting your comments on weak areas in my profile, areas which needs more spotlight and any tips for improvement. And I feel that the way I present my profile is too technical and how to transform my profile suitable for management.

Your current profile focuses a lot on your technical skills. To connect better it's important to shift the emphasis towards your leadership, strategic thinking, and the business results you've achieved. Highlight how you've used your technical expertise to make a real impact, whether improving processes, leading teams, or managing important projects. Also, make sure to bring out times when you've shown management skills, such as mentoring colleagues, working with different teams, or helping to make important decisions.

It's important to be specific when discussing your goals post-MBA. You've mentioned an interest in product management and consulting, but try to clearly show how you want to grow within the automotive or energy sectors. A well-defined vision will strengthen the link between your technical background and where you're headed in your career.

Also, consider engaging in activities demonstrating leadership, teamwork, or community involvement.
