Very decent profile overall Wamika28. You haven't mentioned your motivation for MBA.

See if you can get 665+.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some feedback on my profile for ISB PGP.

* Academics: 10th – 85.5%, 12th – 79.8%, MBBS – 54%
* Education: MBBS + MD (Pediatrics)
* Work experience: ~7 years of professional experience across clinical and hospital settings. This includes compulsory medical service after MBBS, 3 years of MD residency in Pediatrics, and post-residency experience as a pediatrician.
* Extracurriculars/volunteering: 2 years of NSS during MBBS; mentoring experience with FEA; volunteered as a pediatrician at community medical camps.
* GMAT: Currently preparing and planning to take the GMAT soon.

I would really appreciate an assessment of my profile for ISB and, particularly, what GMAT score I should realistically target to have a strong chance of getting an interview/admit.

Would also be interested in knowing if there are any particular strengths or weaknesses in my profile that I should address in my application. Thanks!
What do you want post PGP , consider IIMA PGPX aswell.

Himanisharma25,

MBBS academics are a concern, so aim for a 675+ on GMAT and target IIM A/B/C/L as well.

The diversity math seems good. Non-engineer, female, tier-1 college, B.Com Hons with a 9.0. Your profile is outside the IT/engineering/consulting flood that most B-school pools are drowning in. Can comfortably say adcoms actively want this kind of profile. If you execute the application well, even a sub-par score should not hold you back from getting in.

On the work front your IR experience hopefully gives direct CXO exposure makes it look like you are adept at translating financial performance into stakeholder narratives and managing perception. Think of this as the influence that most Big4 candidates struggle to tell. If you can point to specific moments, for example, a difficult earnings narrative you shaped, a CXO conversation you influenced, or a perception gap you helped close, this will become standout application material.
Bring more light to your ECs in the main application materials. What did you actually own? What changed because of you? What was hard about it? Same principle as the work experience.
What are your goals? Given your IR background, the credible post-MBA narrative would be something in strategy, corporate finance, ESG/sustainability advisory, or IR/comms leadership, but credible only works if you have actually done the work to make the case specific to you.

A fairly well represented profile type. I would not oversell the process efficiency bullets and stories. Your usage-metrics framework for the sales platform is actually the most B-school-relevant achievement, because it touches business decision-making and resource planning directly. I would advise you to build the goals narrative outward from that project rather than the deployment-automation one, which is more purely technical.

On the GMAT, upwards of a 675 for ISB. Feel free to speak for more guidance.

Still Planning to Apply in Round 1?
If you’re working on your MBA applications and wondering whether you still have time for Round 1, there are still some strong options to consider.

Several top MBA programs have R1 deadlines later in September, so you may still be able to apply to a few schools without rushing through the process.

We’re hosting a live coffee session on 27th August to discuss which schools are still realistic, how to prioritize your applications, and whether R1 or R2 makes more sense for you.

Thank you for sharing your story! This is very motivational. B-schools are not only interested in what you achieved when the road was smooth and the odds were in your favor. They also want to know what you built when the road was difficult, what you overcame when the odds were stacked against you, and how far you were able to go with the cards you were dealt. If you have faced challenges early on, don’t hesitate to tell that story. Own it, and tell it with the passion it deserves.

I would give equal weight to your learnings and the work you have done around business and industry analysis, modelling, forecasting, and strategic insights within the TMT space. Show some subject matter knowledge in the essays and definitely in the interviews. These skills sell like hot cakes in B school applications. Try to come across as someone who thinks critically about the industry you are in and has a clear sense of where you want to be in the future. What kind of problems do you want to solve with the knowledge and skills you have built? The stronger your answer to that question, the better. Ideally, your goals should be both motivational and aspirational. On the GMAT, target upwards of 675. Also, apply to IIM A PGPX when you are eligible.

Hello everyone
I’m planning to apply for the ISB PGP and would really appreciate your honest assessment of my profile and guidance on the GMAT score I should target.

My journey has been quite unconventional. I started my career as a hairstylist, and over time, through continuous self-learning and upskilling, I transitioned into the corporate world. I completed my B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics from Aligarh Muslim University, with 83.33% in 10th, 65.6% in 12th, and 64.71% in graduation.

Today, I have around 3 years of professional experience and currently work as a Consulting Analyst at GlobalData, where I work on business and industry analysis, modelling, forecasting and strategic insights, particularly across the TMT and emerging technology space.

Alongside my professional journey, I am also a co-founder and Vice President of a Central Government-registered NGO, which has given me meaningful experience beyond my corporate career.

Given my unconventional transition from hairstyling to a corporate consulting role, academic background, professional experience and extracurricular journey, I would like to understand how competitive my profile would be for the ISB PGP.

Could you please review my profile and advise:

1. How strong is my profile for ISB PGP?
2. What GMAT score should I ideally target to have a strong chance of admission?
3. Are there any particular areas of my profile that I should strengthen before applying?

I would be grateful for your honest feedback and guidance.

the female + tech + strong academics combination works in your favour.

But the profile is still relatively early in its career and you'll be competing against candidates with 4 to 6 years of experience and substantially greater ownership. so the quality of your achievements will matter more than simply having 2+ years at HPE.

Your extracurricular profile is quite distinctive. 15+ years of classical music. I would definitely use this rather than filling the application with generic technical certifications.

For GMAT aim for 675

If you can showcase leadership and business orientation through your application and essays and with right GMAT score you can compete with experienced folks.
