ISB loves ❤️ unconventional 😅

1) your storyline is very motivational and it’s a biggest positive in your profile
2) target GMAT 655+ because your academic score are not much supportive
3) just write the story and make it cohesive so that admissions committee can see your story playing

Hi,

Your profile is definitely worth considering for ISB, particularly because of the unconventional transition from hairstyling to Physics and then into consulting.The main weaknesses are the 64.7% graduation score and relatively short 3 years of work experience, so the rest of the application needs to demonstrate strong impact and progression.

I would recommend targeting 695+ on the GMAT, with 715+ putting you in a more comfortable position.
For the application, focus heavily on explaining the logic behind your career transitions rather than presenting them as disconnected experiences.
Also quantify your impact at GlobalData and within the NGO — responsibilities and titles alone won't be enough.

Hello everyone
I’m planning to apply for the ISB PGP and would really appreciate your honest assessment of my profile and guidance on the GMAT score I should target.

My journey has been quite unconventional. I started my career as a hairstylist, and over time, through continuous self-learning and upskilling, I transitioned into the corporate world. I completed my B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics from Aligarh Muslim University, with 83.33% in 10th, 65.6% in 12th, and 64.71% in graduation.

Today, I have around 3 years of professional experience and currently work as a Consulting Analyst at GlobalData, where I work on business and industry analysis, modelling, forecasting and strategic insights, particularly across the TMT and emerging technology space.

Alongside my professional journey, I am also a co-founder and Vice President of a Central Government-registered NGO, which has given me meaningful experience beyond my corporate career.

Given my unconventional transition from hairstyling to a corporate consulting role, academic background, professional experience and extracurricular journey, I would like to understand how competitive my profile would be for the ISB PGP.

Could you please review my profile and advise:

1. How strong is my profile for ISB PGP?

My traditional career progression has been slower over the last 3 years as I have been the primary caregiver for my mother (advanced Parkinson's), requiring me to heavily balance work and intensive nursing. Your profile is fairly competitive, with strong 9/8/8 academics and 7 years of solid TCS experience in the banking domain. However, TCS is a highly represented applicant pool, so you will need to differentiate yourself through the other aspects of your profile. The slower career progression over the last 3 years should be addressed proactively, with your caregiving responsibility providing important context. Your automation initiative can be a strong differentiator if you quantify the impact and demonstrate clear leadership and ownership. Your NCC, quiz and Odissi experiences can add personality beyond the typical IT profile. I would recommend targeting 685+ on the GMAT. Also target IIM A/B/C/L

I can understand, that things must have been tough for you while balancing work and family both.

Good thing is that you haven’t missed something that you can’t regain. But it will require a consistent effort in filling some gaps that would assure your career progression on upward trajectory

Your academic scores aren’t bad but you are an engineer girl so a score of minimum 645 would definitely help you realize your dream to be in topmost schools.

Here is profile of one of my mentees who with similar story as yours made it to *IIM A|B|C and ISB* all with just 645... but it wasn’t as smooth as putting it in just one statement.

3. 8 years work in total across 2 organisations, primarily as a product manager in Maruti Suzuki R&D (6 years) leading Design and Development of Telematics App managing multiple suppliers and delivering complex integrations in digital domain.

Request to review my profile, and also whether I should target ISB or IIMs considering avg age of batch at ISB would be around 26-27

This girl Arushi is from Maruti only. 😅


Bottom line is, get a gmat score above 655 and target both ISB and top-IIMs
I suggested her IIMA over all other converted option because it looked more aligned with her goals.

I think IIMA might be better fit for you as well but it mainly depends on your career goal. So let it be a point of discussion once you have done your goal setting and have clarified the environment that you would prefer to learn ...

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some feedback on my profile for ISB PGP.

* Academics: 10th – 85.5%, 12th – 79.8%, MBBS – 54%
* Education: MBBS + MD (Pediatrics)
* Work experience: ~7 years of professional experience across clinical and hospital settings. This includes compulsory medical service after MBBS, 3 years of MD residency in Pediatrics, and post-residency experience as a pediatrician.
* Extracurriculars/volunteering: 2 years of NSS during MBBS; mentoring experience with FEA; volunteered as a pediatrician at community medical camps.
* GMAT: Currently preparing and planning to take the GMAT soon.

I would really appreciate an assessment of my profile for ISB and, particularly, what GMAT score I should realistically target to have a strong chance of getting an interview/admit.

Would also be interested in knowing if there are any particular strengths or weaknesses in my profile that I should address in my application. Thanks!
