I wouldn't try to continually update your online status to get a jump on any potential call. I believe I was told last year that my admission status online would not change until the next day.

For the confusion over the Ding on Thanksgiving, here it is from the Horse's mouth:

"Was browsing thru gmatclub.com and saw the mention of my blog

calling-all-kellogg-fall-2011-applicants-97100-620.html

clarification: I got an i/v waiver from Kellogg but never got the i/v invite...and i read on gmatclub forum that the last date to receive i/v notification is - Nov-23...

so i used my analytical mind {in the best of its capacity..} and deduced that i am dinged...

My bad -- i wrote that i am OFFICIALLY dinged by Kellogg...
-----------------------------------------------------

one of the funniest reply on gmatclub --

ring ring

"Hello"
"-no the stuffing, Aunt Mary, not the mashed potatoes! Oh hi, this is Kellogg. You're rejected."
"What?"
"Happy Thanksgiving!"

Can someone point me to the questions for recommenders?

Or do recommenders just write a generic letter?

Can someone point me to the questions for recommenders?

Or do recommenders just write a generic letter?

1. Please comment on the candidate's career performance. Cite specific examples where
possible. (e.g. ranking relative to others in the industry, overall progression within the
organization, impact on organization)

2. Please evaluate the candidate's demonstrated leadership and leadership potential (e.g. ability
to influence others, initiative, contribution beyond expected responsibilities)

3. What do you perceive to be the candidate's weaknesses? What efforts has he or she made to
address these weaknesses?

4. What observations do you have about the candidate's interpersonal skills? (e.g. maturity,
listening skills, team skills, sense of humor, respect for different viewpoints.)

5. Please comment on the candidate's intellectual ability (e.g. analytical and quantitative skills,
communication skills, creativity, curiosity)

Kellogg says that the recommendation should be anywhere from 2-4 pages.

wait, so you got an interview waiver right? doesn't that mean that they are telling you that you don't need an interview?

Like if you live in greenland and they have no alumni nearby, you get an interview waiver. SO, even though you don't ever get to interview during the process, the adcom doesn't hold it against you and just judges you based on the rest of the application.

AM I wrong?? :panel

For those who did a telephone interview:

I know that the in-person interviews are done blind - meaning they only have your resume in front of them. Does the admissions committee member that interviews you on the phone have more than just your resume? Will they have read my entire application package, including essays?

Thank you - this will help me decide how to focus my interview.

Unfortunately, it seems that you may be off. If you look over this thread for last week or so, there has been a lot of discussion about this. Kellogg says that 100% of their admitted students are interviewed. Some people have spoken to admissions reps that say differently but that's what Kellogg reports to Businessweek.

It is a good sign if you receive an invitation to interview over the phone after receiving a waiver. Take it with a grain of sal though because all of this is built on speculation and heresay. (of course, if you're not into speculation and heresay then you're probably not checking this blog too often :-D )

I saw on last year's thread that Kellogg announced on their admissions blog when decisions were going to start rolling out. However this year the Kellogg admissions blog has barely been used. Last post was in October. Does anyone think they'll post there again right before they start releasing decisions?

So last year they did announce on December 7th that decisions were to be released, but if you look at the thread from 2009 it says that the "notification" period was until mid January 2011. That means that well over a month before the decision notification deadline people knew their results.

Since it's only a few weeks away from this year's notification deadline of December 20th, might we assume that they are using a different strategy this year? Just speculating, but it could be that we'll find out next week OR it could be that everyone will be released closer to December 20th because they are deliberately compressing the decision release window.

Hey guys, I'm in for R2. I was browsing the website and was unable to find an answer to my question. Does Kellogg have rolling decisions? Is it better to submit your Part 2 application earlier than by the deadline?

Throw me in for round 1 too.

I want Kellogg something terrible.

I've been lurking since the beginning of time, figured I'd finally man up.

Also, for what it's worth, it was several months ago that I looked into this, so I may be completely wrong in my recollection, but I thought I saw the first admit posted December 1 and December 3 two years ago and last year, respectively. That would mean that unless admits start coming out today Kellogg's the slowest it's been in three years. Which is somewhat odd given that they moved up d-day this year by several weeks.

Change that to December 4, for last year. A Friday.

3:08 PM Chicago time that day is I think when the first admission was reported on the GMATClub thread.

So today would be the closest corresponding day, for this year. Not to stir up emotions (but mine are already as stirred as they're gonna get).
