Haven't been around on here so much lately, but best of luck to all the applicants! Try and keep your mind off things during the wait by picking up old hobbies, getting back in shape, or reconnecting with your friends that you have probably ignored for the last couple months.

Guys - for off campus interviews, the kellogg instructions website notes that: Please allow up to eight weeks after submitting Part I to receive either an interview assignment in your local area or an interview waiver in areas of high demand.

Part 1 Deadline was Sep 22, 2011. Which inherently means the 8 weeks (or 2 months) are up today. If you consider 8 weeks, the date comes before Nov 21, but shek just got an invite so clearly thats not the case.

Also, does anyone have an idea about the filtering ratios/percentages between interview waiver -> interview invite -> admit

Thanks

for Shek they gotten a waiver which for all intents ends the 8 week wait period. Since Kellogg does not begin reviewing the application until the interview details are submitted, they send waivers to individuals where it is more difficult to arrange a face to face meeting. Once the waiver is sent out the application review can begin. Thus receiving an invite after being waived is a great sign. That means the application was good enough to warrant the interview.

True, but admission is of course not a guarantee. I saw some posts in last year's thread and some people in the same situation as me were dinged after the telephonic interview. So I can't rejoice yet ! :)

Of course, getting an invite is not an acceptance, but its a good sign. Easier to gauge that your application is being reviewed favorably then those of us that did not get a waiver in the first place.

Good luck with the interview btw!

I have serious doubts about Kellogg admitting people without an interview (no matter how emphatically they state the opposite in the Interview waiver letter).

For those who do not get an invite post waiver it is going to be a ding. At least that's what I am bracing myslef for.

As much as I would like to disagree with you, I have to say you are spot on. I would however say, I can see them releasing invites up until decision day and just pushing applications over to R2.

In my opinion, these schools would rather push your application to the next round if needed to ensure they make the right decision, then hurry and admit or deny you to meet a somewhat artificial deadline.

With that said, good luck and I hope you get an invite soon.

That is sound reasoning and I am quite sure that some applicants will indeed be pushed to R2 and eventually receive admits. But I am just gearing up for the worst with Kellogg and Stanford. Now the hope rests on Duke & Stern.

What you say is true - Kellogg interviews 100% of its admits. However, I saw in last year's thread (again) that some folks received interview invites even on Dec 4th when the deadline was Dec 20 (or so). There is still hope.

Thanks shekmba and rgupta83.

I always wondered what incentive do current students have to be on this forum and help prospective students in their quests. I guess it has to do with the kind of support you get during the journey. The support we receive and provide on this gmatclub is phenomenal and I am truly grateful for it.

Hope we can all give back in the coming years as admits/current students/alumni.

Congratulations! Check out how to make the best of it-

Podcast - Ace that MBA Interview!
The personal interview is a very important step in your efforts to get admission to your dream business school and should not be taken any lighter than the rest of your application; none of the top MBA programs will accept an applicant without having an interview. The motivation is :

a) to analyse and assess your overall "marketability"
b) to aggressively find the best applicants and sometimes, to keep them away from other competitive schools
c) to pitch their own MBA programs
