Guys, the LBS application page says that they are still accepting late applications, do they usually do this?

Responded to your other forum post - in short yes it is always available, they do not want to lose unique people because of the process deadlines but they are unlikely to admit a 'typical' applicant. So if your profile is like most other business school applicants then its best to go through the official process unless there is something truly unique about your profile or some unquestionable reason on why you have to start this year and were unable to apply in at least round 4.

Hi dears,

Curious about: but might be a kind of cliche question: What sort of qualities does LBS AdCom take into account in potential acceptable candidate? In percentage pls :))

I actually had something written down on this. There were four main parts of the application they leverage:

Essays - Most critical thing they use to determine candidates
GMAT - A strong score strengthens a application
Recommendations - Do these tie up to the essays and are they positive about the candidate
CVs - is there sufficient experience related to the qualities.

Qualities they are looking for:

Team Skills (Especially in multicultural environments)
International Exposure
Experienced
Intellectually capable
Determined and ambitious
Culturally aware
Leadership potential.

How you split these into percentages is difficult as they will never have a set percentage (strengths in one will help balance weaknesses in another) ..... However - Team Skills, International Exposure and Leadership Potential - are the utmost critical ones that you need to definitely demonstrate.

Thank you very much gcb09173! This was very informative reply. Since I am thinking of applying (and adjusting all my preparations to comply with LBS requirements) to LBS next year, it is very nervous to which part I should focus more and/or in descending order.. Seems, the only thing I should focus on now is to prepare hard for getting sound result from GMAT, as it takes time to earn it for non-English speaker.

And more thing: Does international exposure encompass studying in foreign countries for short term? - which also might involve culturally aware quality..

Regards,

Yes it can include studying abroad but they are particularly keen to understand how you work in an international setting. That really doesn't have to be working abroad but could be dealing with cross border teams through audiovisual technology, or connecting with teams in another country regularly - sharing work etc.

I.e. could deal with outsourced teams in another country who are undertaking work for you - or you collaborate with colleagues in another country on a sales initiative - or you have to gather information from teams spread across the country.

It could be part of your permanent role or it could be a short term project etc. The interview I was asked about working with teams abroad and the challenges with facing people from different cultures in that work context. SO ideally you can find some work experience with an international dimension to it that you can leverage in the essays.

I think work is what's keeping me busy and getting me through this waiting period. Very excited, and I hope for the best for all of us. We did our best and now we wait!

See my earlier post - calling-all-lbs-applicants-2015-intake-class-of-173848-760.html#p1506885

They say from 5pm GMT - but past experience suggests circa 7.30pm onwards to perhaps 10.00pm will be the key timeframe.

Good luck!

Also dont believe their 'occasionally' - they are almost always in the evening and after 7pm is more than likely (Round 1 were around 19.30-20.00 GMT and Round 2 were even later around 21.00 GMT).

Go out for dinner etc - do something to ignore it as if just waiting for the decision then time will really drag.

So how many admits they are planning?...on fb page for MBA 2017 I noticed 255 members...that means (assuming everyone admitted is on fb) they have around 150-160 seats to fill in 3rd and 4th round...
