Did you talk about your goals for the program in your alumni interview? Might be that the alumni just forgot to ask, and they need that info to fully assess your app (I know for my interview, they had a specific set of key questions incl. goals for program and took notes on my responses)

Hey everyone,

I recently applied to LBS. I have had my alumni interview.

A member of the senior admissions team reached out to schedule another interview to discuss my application. They mentioned that the call with will focus primarily around my goals for the programme.

As I understand, not many candidates receive an extra interview as part of their application, any insights would be great if anyone has had similar instances. Thanks for your help
airtightjaguar
they must really like your profile.
There could be two possibilities. There may be two possibilities, either the admissions committee is trying to double-check how the LBS program can help you achieve your goals (in case they feel you are good even without it), in other words, justifying the need for an MBA, or they are seeking more clarity on whether you have a clear understanding of the practicality of your goals. I suggest you think through both the scenarios.

Best wishes

Hi! For anyone who applied in R1 and R2, did you submit any supplementary information after the application deadline to help strengthen your application? Say a letter of strengthened interest detailing why it's your first choice?

Yeah, I did consider score and career updates but I was thinking more along the lines of submitting a letter of strengthed interest based some conversations I had with students after submitting the application - but tbh they already have plenty to read so I'm not sure if it's the best choice haha!

Hello, I’ve received an admit from LBS for MiM 2025. Even though LBS is a great institution, I am a bit sceptical of the job prospects post MiM because of UK’s condition (I am from India, and only 2 Indian students have got job offers out of 35 and the programme ends in June).
Little about myself, I have a startup and I want to get into consulting but I have no prior working experience. Given that I’ll be taking a hefty educational loan to come to LBS, do you think I should make the move without work ex or should I wait at least for a year, gain some experience and hope for the situation to get better? (Also, I’m not sure if I would get into LBS next year or if I reject, would my chances be reduced?)
Please let me know what you think about it and what should I do?

Only 2 Indians out of 35 indian students in the batch got job offers? That’s insane. Is there some kind of bias?

Hopefully not, but the current students are saying this is because of recession in the UK

For Europeans, the condition is good but if someone is not from Europe, the situation is not ideal

Honestly, the chances of situation getting better in a year are bleak. A lot of people, from top colleges across Europe and UK, had to come back to India latetly. Since the situation isn’t as great as it used to be in India, they are joining smaller to mid-sized organizations. Having said that, things will definetly change and all these people will certainly shine. It’s a lifelong investment and the brand, the degree will stick with you for the rest of your life, so think from a long-term perspective. In the long-term the situation will definetely improve and hence the questions you need to ask yourself is "if the situation demands - are you ready for a 3-5 years rigor if you straightaway don’t get into consulting, can you start small and wait for big things to happen" . Also, if you decide to join then start building your network in consulting from now itself. Connect with Indians in UK who are into consulting, connect with Indians in India who are in consulting (they may be able to connect you with people in UK). We have a lot of mentors from consulting background and you can definitely leverage our platform. Check out the profiles of our mentors (https://ivycrackers.com/our-mentors/). Feel free to reach out if you want to have a detailed discussion

@gmatacer2023333 - some thoughts:

1. Your academics and NIT pedigree are good. The GMAT score could be improved, particularly to increase odds at LBS and INSEAD.

2. Would like to understand your engineering and military experiences better e.g. which functions/ domains have you worked in? were there promotions? have you led teams? worked with international teams (INSEAD particularly values this)? etc.

3. What are your career goals post MBA i.e. which target sectors/ functions are you looking at? B-schools value military experience, but it'd be crucial to have a strong narrative linking your transferable skills to your post-MBA goals, and highlighting how/ why an MBA would help you get there.

Hope this helps a bit. Feel free to reach out for a deeper chat.

Regards,
Arvind
