:O Did you say 770? :O
Nice score man. So mason must be a safe school for you. I think you will get in with Full scholarship. Best of luck.
Any tips for a 600 Gmat guy?
Hey sorry for the delayed reply. Got busy with work and then the interview. No Mason is definitely not a safe school, I am applying because I like the opportunities that I can get there. Additionally, I feel that the GMAT score is no more the most important criteria for admission. Its your overall profile which really counts. As for your situation, I see that you are planning to give the GMAT again. All the best with that, but I feel you should seriously consider Mason given that you are already selected.
Well I agree with you that Mason is a great school. But as an International applicant, I heard that jobs arent that great in Virginia.
However, states like NY and NJ have a lot of jobs and hence a better scenario. Masons average salary is $77k which is fine for me.
And placement rate is 77%. But its really costly for out of state guys. $120k for 2 years is a bit of concern. whats your take?
As a random aside - there are a ton of jobs in the northern VA/DC area. I moved here 2 years ago as part of an expansion effort. Federal spending fuels a TON of defense and IT contracting work in addition to real estate. Traditional finance is smaller here but it exists; there are a few large asset management, PE and IB shops (Houlihan, Carlyle), the expected PWM footprint and plenty of financial services. Consulting has a large presence, dominated by federal services (Deloitte and Booz have gigantic offices here); less so for strategy but it exists. A few large companies are headquartered here (Mars, General Dynamics, and others). Plus there are a ton of great federal jobs that open up with an advanced degree; either regulatory or finance related. I met a guy who graduated from Booth and went to work for the Treasury investing TARP funds (yes, they still exist), it is essentially private equity investing in the public sector. The Fed is also always hiring.
