Did anyone else use SPAM.com? Did you guys just do something like (SPAM, personal communication, Month Date, 2025)?
Is it good?

Hi guys, any idea how adcoms would judge essays that are 10-15 words above the limit? I remember hearing this in one of the info sessions but I forget (a) whether it was from a school or an admissions consultant and (b) which school was being talked about

Why exceed and looking for the consequences when you can avoid it ?

a deviation of 5% shouldn’t affect your chances adversely but like already mentioned by someone else here...

Why take chance by increasing words when you can avoid it... All you have to do is just read and edit it...to bring it in word limit

From what a current student told me, they might not read it if you violate the Essay rules as it gives you unfair advantage.

This is not from adcom, but from a current student in another school

Schools like kellogg are ok. They have put some buffer of 15 words in their box. In one session they said we udnerstand sometimes u need some buffer.
But in ross webinar they said it is best to stick to word limit

So it depends on school

Kellogg text box has scope for 470 words

Though word limit is 450 words

Got it - you’re right. Best to be safe and re-read/re-edit for the 100th time... 😅

Some schools won’t let you post more than a certain number of characters but I have heard from most Adcom members that they don’t do word counts and it is OK to have a few more but if a school was specific about theiir requirements, I would try to follow.

PS. Most people I know applying try to fit within the limit.
