35 days from R1 deadline and still nothing.....

The R1 notification date is 1/31/11. The R2 application date is 1/4/11.

That is the drop dead date for notifications about acceptances or rejections...has no bearing on interview invites and dings.

:-D The "R1 deadline" is not 35 days from today. That is the R2 deadline. I'm sure it was just a typo. I was clarifying for anyone following.

I think Bluecollarhero was stating that today is 35 days FROM the R1 deadline- in other words, 35 days have passed since the R1 deadline, and he has not heard anything about his application.

Thanks a lot for the advice, tortoiserun! I, too, felt like an application highlighting only my professional accomplishments wasn't a good enough portrayal of myself. I started to doubt myself though when some friends, fellow sloan applicants, mentioned that my essay idea was "risky" for a school like Sloan. But, I'm going to go with my gut on this. And as you said, work experiences are mentioned over and over again throughout the application...and future (hopefully) interview!

Best of luck to you!

You're welcome - best of luck to you too!

I see, that makes sense now  .

Regarding essays, I split my three up as one each from home life, work life and volunteer life. I've never heard anyone say that the adcoms want purely work essays. At the admissions events I have been to they always ask that you give them a complete picture of you as a whole, not just between 9-5.

I had a current Sloan student read my 4 essays and she suggested all 4 be work essays but I decided to not heed her advice and keep my "convince" essay as a personal one. We'll see...

As it has been said many times on this thread, the status won't change unless you are invited to interview or dinged. No need to worry.

Don't worry, as far as I know most of the people have their status as submitted. So all of them can't be at the bottom of the pile

A Sloan alum read mine and said my mix of 2 prof and 1 personal was a good mix.

I did not do the optional essay.

So yesterday, while I am away from my desk, my wife sits on my laptop and opens up gmail. My account opens up and suddenly she sees an email with subject line

"Calling all MIT Sloan Fall 2011 Applicants!"

She gets so excited as she thinks, it of course has come from MIT (interview call) - only later to click on the link and realize "Damn - that was a bummer!".

I just thought to share this funny moment as I am sure each one of you and your partners are eagerly waiting for those calls

Though I know that this email subject comes from gmatclub and that MIT will most probably start sending interview invitations this Friday or next week, I still have the same exact feeling almost every morning when I see an email with that subject line.

'The interview invitations will go out in mid December via e-mail. Decisions will be released by January 31.'

I know the feeling... and the worst part of it is that because of all this wait and distraction, now I NEED to get accepted... my work performance has dropped significantly since October... the damage is irreversible. Only BS can save me haha
