Competition seems tough this year. Was extended an interview last year in R2 but this time straight up rejection in R1

Totally, intense competition with huge increase of numbers of applicants across the board of all schools. Not only MIT

So sorry for the surprising disappointment. Yes, again another year of big increases in app volume. I hope applying in R1 will help you adjust course for R2 and get more exposure this cycle

For the other interviewees: there doesn’t seem to be any mention of the analytical writing assessment, just the additional essays. Do they waive that and not mention it for English-native applicants?
