My application is in, and I mailed my Personal Expression last week :-) This is my top choice, so I'm excited to have it in a week early! I got a confirmation email stating: "You will receive an email from NYU Stern MBA Admissions within the coming weeks confirming the receipt of your application and providing you with a password to our secure Application Status Check Website. Please note that application receipts will not be emailed prior to the first application deadline."

I attended an admissions presentation earlier this week and they said that December 15th is the initial notification for Round 1, meaning you'll receive an invitation to interview, waitlist offer or denial of admission. They release these initial decisions as they make them instead of releasing them all on the same day. If you live in the US, you must come to Stern's campus to interview. Once you receive the invitation to interview, they don't provide a window; instead, you can arrange your interview for any date. You will be interviewed by an admissions officer who will review your application immediately before meeting. You will receive a final decision 2-3 weeks after interviewing.

Just to make sure that I'm understanding you correctly, no one will receive an interview invite prior to Dec 15th??

To clarify, the confirmation email is saying that I won't receive an application receipt until the first application deadline, which is October 15th.

As for interviews, the LATEST you will receive an initial notification (invitation to interview, waitlist offer or denial of admission) is December 15th. They release these initial decisions as they make them. From last year's thread, it looks like a lot of people received invitations to interview on November 13th.

I have absolutely no idea how to address question two. I only have one career path in mind, so I don't know how to come up with a second one, and I don't even know what to say through the "personal expression" thing. Seems stupid just be like "Hey I'm xyz I like fitness and art and do abc things in my free time!" in an admissions essay...

Anyone have any tips for shrinking the size of my transcript? The original PDF I received from my undergraduate institution was 4.5MB. I was able to get it down to ~900kb using convert.neevia. com but cant get it much smaller.

Thanks!

I had the same issue and ended up printing it out and scanning it. The quality of the image isn't great but it was much more efficient than filling out the self-reported transcript form.

Thanks!

There are compression tools you can find online for free. Here's one:

I'm still struggling with question two. This is frustrating.

Did you guys answer the question sections individually (i.e. have a separate answer for a, b, and c) or just write one essay and include the answers to all three sections in it?

I started with separate answers to make sure I was covering everything they asked for then weaved them into a combined essay.

Did you do Option A for question 2? If so how did you answer part B (how do your paths tie to the mission of Stern)?
