People get and admit to multiple schools, they have to choose one eventually. Waitlists should start moving in 2–3rd week of April
that’s what we hope, but sadly no movement visibly happened in waitlist last year except one with whom I coincidentally interacted while researching Owen. that too happened in late May.

So basically most of us are going to be dinged bcs we’re over represented and not bcs we don’t have a good enough profile? 🥲

That’s the reality for 100% of MBA programs... They focus on diversity and that is arranging students between rounds to ensure no demography is overrepresented.

If any of u closely follow US scotus cases on admission or job guidelines, this diversity bias has happening with everyone including white male americans or asians or indians in US to support lgbtq or blacks or women or other communities. But a few years ago, a class action lawsuit was filed against harvard and many other universities got pulled in because adcoms deliberately marked asians and indians lower in admission scoring and rejected far far more worthy applications just to maintain diversity. As a verdict this DEI STUFF WAS BANNED AND NEARLY EVERY UNIV. PRESIDENT EXPRESSED DISPLEASURE INCLUDING VANDERBILT.

Moreover these univ. run on donations and I think those donors might have their own preferences while supporting those US univ., ie to educate their own people and presenting themselves as global programs by admitting few internationals.

People say gmat is not everything but then people with far better profiles are rejected just because to maintain diversity. But then can somebody explain how 70% Americans in Vanderbilt class of 160 , where internationals historically lie between 15-30% (personally verified for last 8 years) is going to help diversity. Can any intellectual who keep on saying Indians are overrepresented enlighten me?

I understand you’re vocal on this issue. When I say overrepresented, it’s based on the internationals group, not the whole cohort. Indians ARE the majority on 90% of the international cohorts on US MBAs.

And please, understand, I’m not stating this to judge it as good or bad. I’m just saying admissions has a focus on diversity and this WILL happen not only to Indians but to any overrepresented demography, unfortunately.

Whether Vanderbilt admits more americans than internationals, it’s up to them to define a good % on international students. We take more toll on their career management center, we struggle with recruiting more than the average american.

There are plenty of reasons to explain why they do this. Unfortunate as it is, it’s up to us to accept it and try to do as much as possible to overcome this hurdle.

I have gone crazy by the stats as I try to evaluate what has been happening with preferential treatment and terrified with what happens during job search if this is the case with simple admissions, as jobs tend to be more selective or biased as we are going to work there for salary and wont be paying huge tuition fees
