Everyone worrying about the Kira word count - Don't worry too much about it.

Last year, the prompt said "write between 250-500 words" and I wrote ~170. I was still invited to interview.

This year, the prompt said "write upto 200 words" (I think they found out very rarely were candidates able to write 250 words in 5 min). I write ~100 and still got invited to interview.

The focus with the writing question here is to look at your creative side, so I'd worry more about the content, and not word count.

Kira cannot make or break your decision! So you may still get interview invite even if your kira went bad. (although what you consider "bad" may be very different from what adcom considers "bad"). But it does form part of your overall credentials.

So when your interview is done, your profile (undergrad scores, application, kira, interview) are reviewed in totality against other candidates. Hope this helps.

I was able to type that much and other people have also done it. The average I have seen here is around 150 words. Please do not assume such things :)
