Fellows,

I was one of those whose documents were missing by the deadline of R2.
They let me know of that on 23 January 2012. I completed the missing documents on 25, and they confirmed the completeness on 26 January.

Given the fact that the last wave of applications was on 10 February and the interviews were all conducted to be finished last week, do I still stand a chance ?

I e-mailed them about this situation and received the following response:

Round two applicants will receive decision notifications on March 15, 2012. At this point, there are no updates we can provide.

I think it is a ding, right ?

Your insight will be highly appreciated

Thanks

In Soojin's last blog update she indicated that it's either a ding / waitlist scenario. Best of luck, I'm in the same situation. :?

Thanks a lot

Best of luck to you, too

Admit calls usually go out a few days before. R1 decision date was 1/13 and I got my call on 1/11.

Do you guys/gals expect the normally high conversion rate for interviewees to hold this year for Ross? I read somewhere on this forum that they interviewed more folks this year?

Also,..any reason why Ross accepts so many of the people they interview?

In Soojin's blog she mentioned that a large number of applicants were using consulting services, which made a lot of the essays similar and 'cookie cutter', to get around that, they decided to interview more candidates to get a feel for them and ensure they actually wrote their essays. (or something like that, I can't remember the exact details)

Ironically, I did not use a consulting service, but I think my interview at Ross was the worst part of my application and did not reflect my candidacy in good light... oh well, just wait and see.

I was under the impression from her P&Q interview that interviews would be weighted more heavily this year than in years past. I'd guess that this translates into a lower conversion rate and a smaller waitlist since I'm doubtful that they would actually want to increase the number of interviews (despite the previous report in this thread to the contrary). Just spitballing here, though.

Yup, that is where I read it, on the P&Q interview, not on her blog! sorry about that.

Definitely no need to be sorry. It's not like I actually know what I'm talking about here. Plus, at this point there's nothing for us to do but wait and try not to be too nervous (emphasis on 'try').

Anyone know if they actually mail the decisions on 3/15 or whether some people get calls on that date or before? I apologize if someone else already answered this question before.

Calls a few days before.

This is also answered only a few posts above your question.

Hi,

For those applied in R1 and received their decision..are details of the scholarship (if any) communicated during the call itself..or is that something you get to know later.

One of my friends actually was waitlisted even before March 15 deadline of R2. He wasn't invited for interview. Not sure what is happening. I haven't been invited for interview, so the best result I can get at this point is waitlist. I assume waitlisted candidates are also notified on the decision date and not earlier.

can somebody confirm?

Thanks.

from past posts (calling-all-ross-2012-applicants-117003-640.html) sounds like they tell you scholarship info either over the phone when admitted or by email shortly after.

There are also some people who said that they weren't told about scholarships on the phone but received smaller scholarships when they received their admit package.

Any quantitative estimate on what "smaller" means? Anything less than $10k?

In Soojin's last blog update she indicated that it's either a ding / waitlist scenario. Best of luck, I'm in the same situation. :?

The same thing happened to me in R1. My application was missing one of my transcripts and I received an email notification from Admissions office about it. I submitted the transcript the same day and even got an confirmation from them. This was about a couple of weeks before the 2nd wave of interviews went out for R1 (R1 had only two waves of interviews). But then the next week I got another email from admissions office saying that they had requested the transcript a week ago and they still hadn't received it! So I called them and told them that I had actually submitted the transcript the previous week itself. The lady on the phone then said .. 'oh ok, we have it'. So this was 1 week before the 2nd wave of interviews. I was nervous if my application would be considered in R1 with so little time remaining, but the lady assured me it will. So the 2nd wave of interviews came and went and I didn't hear anything. I was disheartened as hell. But lo and behold, the next day I receive a phone call from the admissions office saying that they have sent me two emails requesting my transcript and I haven't send it still! I was like 'you've got to be be kidding me'. I explained to her that I had sent it 2 weeks ago and already confirmed twice. She again looked at her records and said .. oh we have it. I asked her what all of this meant - since my app wasn't marked complete it couldn't have been reviewed before the interviews went out and she agreed. Then I asked her if my application will still be considered in R1 and she said it will. I really wanted to believe her but practically speaking, it was also easy to see that since both waves of interviews had gone out, I might be bumped to the next round.

So I just waited for the decision deadline and was waitlisted. Now I don't know what actually happened i.e. whether they looked at my application and decided to put me on WL or if they could not get to the application and so put me on WL. Either way, I was happy to still be under consideration. And then, I was invited to interview in the first wave for R2 interviews.

Long story short, for those who were not invited for interviews in R2, you're definitely still in the game. Especially if there was something missing in your application at some point and you received a request from the admissions office to complete it.

I was kind of mad initially at what had happened, but then at the end of the day it was my mistake. My application wasn't complete even if it was a missing transcript. Doesn't matter that I worked my ass off to complete my essays in R1, should have been more careful about about other parts as well. Can't blame admissions for that.

When they do the "final review" of the folks that have completed their interviews,...I understand at that point they're trying to build as diverse (in terms of work and background) and comprehensive a class as possible. Does this mean that perhaps academic attributes at this point are less important than somebody's personal background, essays, and work exp?
