Read somewhere that 50% of applicants are invited to interview, 25% get selected, and 11-12% finally join.

Could one of you first stage applicants explain what they ask of recommenders in the application? Do they ask specific questions and, if so, what are the questions? My recommenders have already written other recommendations for me and I'd like to know how similar Oxford's format is.

The interview decisions come out tomorrow. From what I gather, the dean of admissions is going to be in India during the first week of August, so interview invites for the Indian applicants were sent out early to take advantage of in-person interviews while he's there.

You should hear back from admissions tomorrow :-D

Oh, me as well. I've been pretty anxious while waiting for interview decisions. Thankfully they get back to you within a couple of weeks, unlike most graduate school decisions.

...Also, I meant the dean of admissions would be in India during the first week of October, not August. It's been a long week :P.

Cambridge asked my referee to validate each parameter against which he rated my performance on, with concrete examples e.g. leadership, communication skills, analytical skills, etc. Will take a bit off time and effort.

Also invited!! I'm so excited, please share any insights about the interwiev. The email strongly recomends to make the interview on campus, should I make the trip os Skypee is good enough? ehat are your toughts (keep in mind that it is a $3,000 US flight for me.

I don't think it will matter all that much, but all the cool stuff like the campus tour and meeting the current students and career center, etc. will be happening on the Oxford interview day. I don't think you'll be hurting your chances by doing the skype interview (especially considering they realize that some people will have to fit flights into their budget, time off work, etc.), but the extra knowledge about the school might be interesting and the tour might be exciting.

I replied pretty quickly that I'd like to attend in person on Oxford campus. It's going to be a $2,000 flight for me, but even if I didn't get selected after the interview, this is an exciting life experience for me and I want to make the most of it :).
