Sorry, by a "bunch" I meant more than 5 (I might not be remembering that correctly, though.. I just remember it was enough to generate a ton of excitement!)

I don't care if it is on February 2, March 3, or any other day in between, if I get an interview, I'll be beyond excited! Just thinking about it gets me excited :) I know getting into Stanford is a long shot, but boy howdy do I hope I am one of the fortunate ones!!

By the way, have you decided on a school yet, towski? Can't really go wrong with Stanford or MIT!
I put my deposit down at Stanford, though I very, very much love MIT's program and the school itself - its opportunities in my area of interest (transportation/aviation) are unmatched. The GSB brand, fellowship money, and California weather are too much to overcome.

It looks like people try to figure out a pattern every year for every round but there never seems to be a pattern. Doesn't matter where you're from, what industry you're in, or when you submitted your application; the interview invitations appear to be sent out randomly. I wish there was a pattern though... waiting a month is going to be brutal!

saddest part is that i know that already, but the engineer in me knows there must be some pattern and want to figure it out.... maybe since they break up the apps into different piles based on country/industry etc, they send out the invites as each person gets through them, which makes it appear to be very randomized.

It's also hard to nail down because of the small sample size (GMATClub gets <10% of all Stanford GSB applicants). Personally, I think they break it up first and then each reader has their own system for getting through the pile. So it might start out in a predictable manner, but, because each reader has a different system, it ends up being fairly random. That's just my theory. I'm really just trying to put my mind at ease to reduce the stress a bit lol.

Just for a point of reference, where are you from, what's your industry, and when did you apply? I'm from the United States (East Coast), I work at a non-profit in the defense industry, and I applied ~18 hours before the deadline. Not that my information really helps since I haven't received an invitation yet, but maybe starting a discussion will help pass the time :)
