saddest part is that i know that already, but the engineer in me knows there must be some pattern and want to figure it out.... maybe since they break up the apps into different piles based on country/industry etc, they send out the invites as each person gets through them, which makes it appear to be very randomized.

It's also hard to nail down because of the small sample size (GMATClub gets <10% of all Stanford GSB applicants). Personally, I think they break it up first and then each reader has their own system for getting through the pile. So it might start out in a predictable manner, but, because each reader has a different system, it ends up being fairly random. That's just my theory. I'm really just trying to put my mind at ease to reduce the stress a bit lol.

Just for a point of reference, where are you from, what's your industry, and when did you apply? I'm from the United States (East Coast), I work at a non-profit in the defense industry, and I applied ~18 hours before the deadline. Not that my information really helps since I haven't received an invitation yet, but maybe starting a discussion will help pass the time :)

I know it has been said before, but as difficult as the wait is, don't give up hope if you don't get an interview invite right away! I didn't receive an invite until 7pm EST on the last possible day. I think a major factor is matching you with an alumni; they did a really excellent job of pairing me with someone with similar and relatable interests, despite our divergent professional paths.

With that said, I wish the absolute BEST OF LUCK to everyone! Hang in there!

I estimate on average only 10-20 people will receive invites per weekday, so it is very reasonable we have some quiet days here.

I second what Rolyat said above. There is no pattern, and, although I couldn't follow this advice myself during round 1, try not to stress over the timing of the invitation. I've met some amazing people that were invited during the first week and plenty of folks like me who received an invitation very near the end of the window. I honestly believe that it's impossible to work out a pattern because multiple people are reading each application for different reasons, meaning too much complexity to define with so little data. Hang in there everyone!

I think the best advice has already been given. Just continue with your life until March 3. The timing of the invite gives no indication of your chances of admission, and they are sent out at random times over the next month. Good luck everyone!

Yeah, I'm a bit surprised as well. I don't think they send them out at any particular time, unfortunately. But on the positive side, if you do hold your breath for a few hours, you'll crush the world record for breath-holding; the current record is "only" 22 minutes. :)
