Hey,

Congratulations that is an amazing accomplishment. I see a couple people with really high GMAT scores on this thread. I did OK, 760. At what point is the GMAT score really a difference maker. Of course, I have read a million articles that talk about how little it means. But, at these top schools, is a 99th percentile score a big difference maker? Good to see the 790 helping at GSB!

from what i've read, monster gmat scores help more at non H/S schools since they're more gmat sensitive due to lower yield.

Interesting, well that is encouraging. Although, I don't know if 760 qualifies as a monster score. I was pretty happy with it :)
I imagine a lot is dependent on the year. I am sure if the school has a down year for GMAT scores and you are 99th percentile, it can work out really well. Fingers crossed.

I agree. Schools like the HBS and stanford wouldnt worry about gigantic GMAT scores because they admit a bunch of students that generally have an awesome GMAT apart from a stellar profile . So their GMAT mean quotient ends up being high anyway. I would assume that a situation where one has a competitive profile and a GMAT around or slightly over the school average would warrant an interview at least. That being said-- a higher GMAT hurts no one.

Very cool. There is always a lot of stuff that is hard to quantify and express with metrics.
