I had a thought that might help some of my fellow GSB hopefuls so I thought I would share it here. I'm fortunate (and a bit foolhardy) to have applied to a range of schools this round, and most of them will send out their interview invites in the last 2 weeks of October based on current announcements and last year's R1 timelines. Stanford only stops sending invites out on the 4th of November. So come the evening of the 4th, I would be facing 3 potential scenarios:
1. I would have received an interview invite from Stanford, in which case I would be elated, and you'll hear my screaming from South Africa.
2. I would not have received an invite from Stanford, but would have received an invite from another top school such as Wharton, Booth, MIT, or Haas. In which case, I'd be excited because those are all great schools and I would love to join any one of them.
3. I would not have received an invite from Stanford or any of the other top schools I applied to. Maybe I get an invite from others like Ross or Darden, maybe not. But if its the case that all 6 of my top schools said no, then I really shouldn't be that disappointed that Stanford rejected me. I would then need to recalibrate my expectations and decide on taking what I have or re-applying, in a much wiser position than before.
Come November 4th, all will be clear for each of us, and for most of our schools as well. I hope that helps some of you navigate these uncertain few weeks.
