I'm a round 1 international applicant who was waitlisted without an interview.

I received an invitation to interview about 10 hours ago.

I was waitlisted on January and sent 2 updates: One was a short essay and the other one was kind of a short 3rd recommendation.

hey freetz
congrats on the interview. Please keep us all updated on the next steps you go through. Best of luck
Had my off-campus interview a few days ago.

Like many others reported, it was very relaxed and conversational, completely different than an interview conducted by alumni.
Now the real wait begins...

Just got added to the wait list yesterday, going to sit down and craft my additional info tonight (exciting Friday night for me haha). I have quite a bit of additional info to add as I had a job transition basically the day I submitted my app and they already contacted me once to clarify. I'm positive my transition is best for my long term goals though so hopefully I can convince them of that and get off this wait list!

Congrats to Freetz on getting admitted and good luck to the rest of you! The DMV has nothing on MBA app waiting times.

WL today after interview three weeks ago. Round 2 applicant, but they didn't get my essay 3 so I resent it a month late. Thanks for all the WL tips, I'll be digging very deeply in my app this evening. GL to all - unless you get my spot ;)

Just wanted to give all of you waitlisters some hope. I was accepted off the waitlist. I applied R1 and was waitlisted. I then received an invite to interview in early March, interviewed in late March and was accepted in early April. I sent in a few updates including an email expressing my interest in Stern as well as another letter of rec that showed a new perspective. Stern looks for people who will work well with others and who will help their peers even in times of fierce competition as well as for students who will be dedicated to the school. This showed during PreView Weekend and you could tell that each person was hand selected because the adcoms thought that they would mesh well with the already accepted pool of applicants. Good Luck to everyone! Getting off the waitlist and getting accepted can be nerve racking but it definitely does happen!

Thanks for the support Imm. I particularly appreciate the comment about working well with others - I feel like my interviewer was working really hard to get at that.

So now that the deposit deadline has passed, does anyone have any idea how long we need to wait to see some movement?

not sure. but id recommend looking at the "calling all applicants" 2012/2011 to get an idea - im assuming the deposit deadlines were roughly similar although you can probly find them in their somewhere... (if i wasnt at work right now id have a look for you). good luck.

I did go back and take a look haha. Saw some movement around this week last year but overall the chat seemed rather slow. I know they accept a ton of waitlisters (been told by students accepted of the waitlist) and am just not finding a lot. We'll see but the wait is killing me.

yea. i can imagine. id definitely make a concerted effort to show your interest if you haven't already. they're a school that looks very favorably at that stuff. 1. id have someone take a look at ur app and look for weaknesses and try to address them. 2. id show ur commitment to stern and what you've done since applying to further that interest. 3. id update them on any other great stuff uv been up to. 4. if u can be creative about how u present any of that stuff i think it would help. if u dont like sitting and waiting anxiously, try to come up with a creative way to approach one of those categories. i just helped a buddy of mine w/ a booth waitlist and his final product was great - was creative and addressed all those issues
