I think many of us are in the same boat. I have a lot riding on Anderson admit and desperately awaiting admit mail/call. I am counting days to 28th from quite some time now. With now one week left I can hardly control my anxiety. tick tock tick tock....

I totally understand what you're going through. If things don't work out with Anderson, I might need to give up on my career goals and go in another direction.

Hope we all hear some good news next week...

Just got an interview invitation (email came in at about 4PM Pacific), so maybe there's another wave coming. I applied right on the R2 deadline.

A call out to the Indian applicants who had interviewed in Round one. Were you asked to supply a TOEFL score POST your interview ? I got a mail last week from UCLA asking for it and that they can't proceed on my application until they get the score. Just want to know whether I am the only one out there who has to do this or are there others.

I think that's a good sign because apparently, Anderson changed their policy about the TOEFL after the Round 1 deadlines. The UCLA Graduate School Admissions department implemented a new policy which makes the TOEFL mandatory for Indian applicants (there's only a few countries that are exempt). I wasn't aware of this when I submitted my Round 2 app and when I asked, they told me to take the test asap and report my scores to them. Until then, my application would be "on hold".

Seeing as how you've had your interview already, I think the TOEFL is needed before admission (otherwise why would they ask?)

That was my original thought too. But since no other applicant posted any such thing on the forum here, my mind ventured into negative thoughts. I am taking the TOEFL now anyway.

Guess that they didn't send many invites out then.

Does UCLA review applications in the order they were received or by industry? I'm noticing that several liberal arts/education people like myself got invites in the past few days, and I'm getting nervous.
Just to note, I'm in the maritime/oil & energy industry and I got an invite. So I doubt it's by industry. Also submitted my app right on the deadline.

To all those previously invited for interview in R1/R2

It is just weird that I have to send my original degree certificates to them. What if they are lost in the mail or something?? I don't think I can take that risk. too scary!! If I loose it, I'll only get a duplicate from my college.

I have my official degree transcripts which I am more than willing to send. If I loose them I can always ask for additional copies from my college.

Is there a way out, if I don't want to send my original degree certificate?? again, who asks for originals even before I am selected

It's a pretty valid concern. Even I had the same concern and had mailed the admissions office. You can get an attested copy of your degree certificate and send it to them. Attested by the university. That's what I did.

I can confirm I have also done the same and send them the attested copies.

Which college are you from? I too believed I could not get my hands on something like that. However calling up my university did wonders. Other than that, as I was told by Anderson, they have it for a day and return the next day by UPS Express. If you are at a metro or something, then it should be fine and reach you within 3 business days.

IIT Kharagpur. I think they'll take at least 2/3 weeks to process an attestation( same time to get a transcript ). Will call them up and check. To get a duplicate copy of the certificate I'll have to file an fir with police etc and then apply for a duplicate - too cumbersome and probably illegal.

Thanks for your replies. If there are other ways out please let me know.

According to the admissions officer I met during one of their roadshows, the TOEFL is a University of California requirement and cannot be waived off for Indian students. For R1, I submitted the scores along with other application materials.

Pro tip: the TOEFL exam is easy. There are no trick questions. You should be able to take it on the first available date. Just practice the writing section and go watch Big Bang Theory/ Game of Thrones/ Suits/ Madmen/ Breaking Bad every day until the exam

FWIW - I was in the same dilemma. So I found a family friend's kid studying in my college and posted the original degree to her. She got them photocopied and attested by the Registrar. I got the copies and posted them to admissions. The degree I picked up later when I went home. Also, my college is so remote that no courier service would go there. I used the Indian Speed Post and it went without a hitch. Just look for somebody who knows somebody pursuing a PhD/ BTech, etc. in the institute and get it done by him/her. No sweat :)
