I had my interview with Amanda Harding last Friday. Overall, it was a very relaxed one with no major bouncers.
She explained how the admission process works. Basically there are 3 Admission directors reviewing one application. One is the person who interviews and does not read the application. One is the person who reads the application but does not have access to the interview and then the third, who has access to both the application and the interview. Then they collectively take a decision.
Questions asked were pretty standard.
1.Where did you grow up and how did it influence you?
2.Why did you chose your undergraduate major?
3.What extra-curricular were you involved in college? Describe the most challenging situation in your extra-curricular activity?
4.Standard job responsibilities in both my jobs and significant Professional achievement?
5.Describe a situation where you faced a challenge while leading your team?
6.Why MBA? Why KF?
7.Any questions?
Overall, it was very relaxing, she once cracked a joke about UNC-Duke rivalry. She was keenly asking questions on my work because most of my work has been in the construction technology field, especially green buildings which she said is a hot topic in the school and Research Triangle region. She suggested me to get in touch with one of the MBA ambassadors to learn more about the school.
Here is my 2 cents- know yourself and know your stories, practice but do not over prepare. Just be your normal self. They really..really want to know the person behind your application. That's why they take the pain to interview each and every candidate.
