Denied! This one hurt. We flew up there for the interview and loved it. My wife was excited about joining the MAcc program as well.
Moving on :|
Best of luck to every one else!

buster52, iammike352, and aaropp, you guys all have great acceptances already. Would you go to Foster over your current schools? I'd love to be in Seattle personally.

Hey whitman - it seems you and I are in the same boat. I got a bigger scholarship at Foster than UCLA ($70K vs. $40K) which makes the decision a little more challenging. Being that I want to go into media/entertainment after school and have a large personal network in LA (I was there for undergrad) it probably is a better fit for my career to go to Anderson but I do really like Foster, Seattle, and the employment stats from the school.

I think it also depends a lot on where one would want to work after school. 80% of Foster grads work in Seattle/Washington so you would have to be very comfortable with the idea of staying in the PNW after school to attend Foster. If you want to work in either LA or Bay Area than UCLA makes a lot more sense.

Will be going to both admit weekends before making a final decision though and really looking forward to both of them. Loved my visits to Foster and exited to see everyone there. Congrats to those who got admitted today!!

Dinged.

This one hurt for me too. I felt like the interview went well and my wife and I both really love Seattle. This has been a bizarre cycle.

Wow. Denied. Not even waitlisted. Very bizarre. Spent 2 years doing community service in the Seattle area after college, talked about how I want to work and live there and how my girlfriend is from there and wants to settle there. Very strange. $60k from UCLA and not even a waitlist at UW...this cycle has been strange to say the least. Gotta say I am very, very bummed.

Congratulations to everyone who got in. Seattle is a beautiful city. Enjoy it for me.

My condolences to finalhourmba, mph1699, wc3452, and aaropp. I guess we all did something strange in our applications...

The official ding, if anyone is curious:

Thank you for your application to the University of Washington Graduate School. Your file has been carefully reviewed by the graduate admissions committee in the Business Administration - Foster School of Business - Seattle Full-time MBA program.
Unfortunately, the committee has decided not to recommend your admission. The number and quality of graduate applicants to the University of Washington are extraordinary and these difficult decisions are reached through careful consideration of all applicants to a given program. In many cases, enrollment restrictions are also a factor, limiting our ability to accept all qualified applicants.

If you have questions regarding the reasons for this decision, they should be directed to the graduate program: mbaapp@uw.edu.

Anyone not from Seattle should go to Thai Tom when you visit UW. And Portage Bay for breakfast.

I feel the same way. My wife and I love Seattle (got engaged there) and we were hoping I would get into Foster. I think this ding is sort of a blessing in disguise, had I gotten in I think I would have gone to Foster instead of Tepper. I want to do operations and Tepper is ultimately the better school for that. So if I got into Foster, I would have had a really difficult decision to make.

Whitman, it sounds like we share a similar struggle, but consider this ding as a positive and making your decision easier :-D

I got one email with the admission offer and a separate message, about an hour later, with a scholarship award.

Heartfelt condolences to those who got dinged. The past 3-4 weeks have been filled with unexpected ups and unexpected downs (pretty sure my friends and family are getting tired of the roller coaster). I imagine applying in a later round has made it even less predictable.

Sorry wc. I hear what you're saying, though. Maybe it's better not to have the option for your heart to lead you in a direction different from you head. Congratulations on Tepper.

Hey whitman. Sorry to hear about Foster for you. On the plus side I agree with wc. With $60k from Anderson you have a really great offer in front of you. Anderson does have internship and placement opportunities in Seattle and what I have heard from students at both schools is that a degree from Anderson carries considerable weight at companies like Amazon and Microsoft so you can always work your way up there post b-school (not like west LA is the worst place to end up anyway)

Hope I get a chance to run into you at A days!

There is probably some truth in that. But on the other hand, if your heart is really saying Foster, maybe you wait a year and reapply R1 in the fall? Given where else you got in, you're probably a competitive applicant for Foster; maybe you needed to refine some aspect of the message in your application. Of course, it's probably the last thing you want to think about today.

Hey guys, thanks for the concern. I can see why you all have great offers at schools. I'm calm enough now to stop being an attention hog here. I hereby cede this thread to those of you who got in. And maybe you're right sheconomist. Are you going to the Owen admitted students weekend or sticking with Foster?

And thanks buster, see you at A Days!
