I came across this problem of repetition. While filling out Wharton Online Application, you can see the box specially for Writing Down Achievements, Awards and Certifications. and same thing has to be written down in College/University Section for Awards Section. Also I have written the same on my resume. So, would it be a problem or is it ok to do so ?
Thanks in advance. Best of luck to everyone in R2.
Hi All, Has anyone submitted recommendation letters using a previous employer, rather than the current one? Thanks!
I got one recommendation from my current employer and one from my former employer. They typically like to see at least one from your current employer, so if you use both from a former employer, you should explain why in the application (i.e. "I just started working at my current job within the past 6 months", "I haven't told/can't tell my employer I'm applying to business school", etc.). The most important thing is that the recommender knows you well and will be an advocate for you.

I'm wondering if it's such a turn off not to have from current employer (most experience is with previous one anyway). My hesitation is that I wouldn't want my employer to know a year in advance that I'll be heading to an MBA. It would be impossible to negotiate any salary raise, and or promotion. I guess if you give a reasonable explanation that will do. Thanks!
Does Re Vera check the dates on your extracurriculars for Wharton's background check?
They did not in my case (I had to go through the background check process with both Re-Vera and Kroll and none of them did). But what they actually check is B-school specific. I'd be very surprised is they checked anything beyond employment dates, HR job title, and compensation.
folks, is it okay if the second recommendation letter is submitted post the 5th Jan deadline?

According to the website, it says that the application is not complete until recommendation letters have been received. If they are not received on time, then they say that the application will be considered for the next round.

well i am no expert but i think that the resume should be filled with professional achievements only without the awards . because there is a separate section for awards one might think that u could not fill your resume with thinks meaningful. but i am no expert andalso the admission consultants read a million file so i doubt anyone would notice i listed my promotions in resume because there isno separate section for that . also i left the honors/awards section empty because i really dont have any lol
Hi everyone, is Wharton's 2nd essay question separate to the traditional 'optional information' essay that all schools have? The website indicates 400 word limit for the 2nd essay but 250 for the optional information essay.

Bit confused!

I was confused as well, as I have undergraduate coursework that requires explanation (gap between transfers). I searched everywhere and what I determined was that unusual circumstances (low GMAT/GPA, gap in work experience or school) should be explained in the 250 word essay. The 400 word optional essay is similar to the HBS essay. For Wharton's application, I concluded it should only be used if you have something really special/unique that would really add to your candidacy and were unable to find a place to include it in the application.

Great stuff - that is exactly the conclusion I came to before reading your reply. I decided to leave the 400 word optional essay blank.
