I completely agree that it's better to have someone write your LOR who can speak to your strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps we should poll the ED-ers on how many of their letters were written by people at their current job, a past job, or other. Posted from my mobile device

If #2 is really the case, i'm surprised the columbia application does not explicitly state this. I got 1 rec from current and the other from a previous supervisor, at a company that i worked 5+ years at. I already submitted my app.

Last year, people who submitted by December 1st or so, managed to get invites by Christmas. Not sure if this will still be the case this year though.

For what it's worth, I'm an ED admit and NEITHER of my recommendations came from my current employer. One was from a supervisor at my last job and the other was from a client I worked closely with at my last job.

not here. the waitlist letter says they will get back by Dec 15, but I heard from admissions that this can extend up until classes start... #anxiety
