Hey
kromay,
Thank you so much for doing this! I was looking forward to applying to Darden in Round 2 and was wondering what Darden's perception of applicants with Tech. Product Management as a goal was. Darden's location means there aren't many obvious post-MBA career paths (maybe apart from consulting) and I was wondering if Darden views applicants with non-consulting goals favorably. It would also help to know where most alums in the tech industry end up post-MBA.
Thank you so much!
Hey! That’s a great question. First of all I would recommend to look at the new employment report. I guess it should have been already posted. There are like 18% of students who go into tech and PM role is the most popular.
I myself recruit with a lot of tech firms and got an invite for Amazon PMT, will interview with them mid January.
The school is really great with that regard. Especially if you consider applying to the Data Science dual degree.
Location wise - Amazon just set up a new location in Virginia, which is two hours from Charlottesville. It’s not yet there of course but that’s a great perspective.
Last but not least. Don’t worry about location. All major companies come on grounds. (Amazon, Google, Miscrosoft) and a bunch of others. And there is a lot of alums. With tech, alums will not help you get an interview, but that’s not the Darden issue, it’s industry specific.
