I have doubt in the first question:
the-followin ... l#p3292609
On increasing x by 1% equation becomes y’=mx(1+0.01)+c=y+mx/100
Also mx=y-c
hence %change = (y’ - y)100/y = (y-c)/y
Now here c=(-17.6)
So %change=1 + 17.6/y
All I know is >1% increase
how did we conclude it should be 1.1% and not 1.7%?
Yes, the percentage change in value of Y(Percentage of women) will vary from
1.18% to infinite.... {depending on the value of X, in which 1% is increased}
I think the question should have been... "The line of best fit suggests that a 1% increase in the number of men who read the daily paper corresponds to a
minimum ________ in the number of women who read the daily paper."
