This entirely depends on what the question is asking. Let’s say the question says, can X be greater than 10? Based on the two statements you have to check if X will always be less than 10 or not. In this case, you don’t really need to find the exact value of X. A range will be sufficient. Now let’s say the question was asking you ’What’s the number of votes received in the election?’. Here, you need to determine the exact number of votes. If you can do so using either of the statements or both, then you have your answer. It’s important to note that even in this, you may not have to entirely solve the equations that gives you the number of votes. If you get an equation that you’re fairly confident will yield a legit value, that’s all you need to do to get to an answer. Once you practice more DS questions, this will be more clear. If your doubt came from a specific question, please share that here. It might make more sense to understand this using that question as an example.

i mean like this one: Last year, a certain bakery’s expenses for manufacturing pretzels were equal to $70,000 plus 25% of the bakery’s total revenue from selling pretzels. If the bakery sold every pretzel it manufactured but did not make a profit on pretzel sales, did the bakery sell fewer than 18,000 pretzels last year? (1 ) Last year, the bakery sold its pretzels for an average price of greater than $6. Your understanding of the question is correct. But look what the question is asking: "Did the bakery sell fewer than 18,000 pretzels last year?". Statement alone helps you answer that. Statement doesn’t give you any additional information for answering that question. What the question asking is important. Also, note that the question itself tells you that there was no profit, so there’s no point in using the statement to verify that. You already know that. Instead we need to check which statement helps us answer if the number of pretzels sold were fewer than 18,000. Does this clarify your doubt? *Statement (1) alone helps you answer that. Statement (2) doesn’t give you any additional information for answering that question.

From (1) we get a definite answer to the question, YES, the bakery sold fewer than 18,000 pretzels last year. Thus, (1) is sufficient. From (2) we have noyhing. We knew from the stem that the revenue was ≤ $93,xxx. Ths styatement just narrows the range saying that the revenue was less than $90,000, which is clearly not sufficient whether the bakery sold fewer than 18,000 pretzels last year.
