Hi SB1230
I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your GMAT score and GPA are strong. With 6 years of experience with more than a couple promotions and international exposure you should have a strong narrative to build around. Your LORs look good too. I see that you have been shortlisted for interview at Oxford, good luck for that.

If you have any questions regarding your interview scheduled and chances at other top schools, FEEL FREE TO CONNECT WITH ME.

Thank you! That’s a fantastic profile. Very strong chances for the EU schools.

M7 is a bit more unpredictable unfortunately.

PS. if your employer is offering to sponsor you, that will also help with admissions even if you do not want to return but they are offering to sponsor you.... Just FYI

Thank you for the feedback. Fingers crossed.
Unfortunately I don't have any sponsorship agreement with my employer.
I'm planning to apply in the 2nd round to other schools, In case I don't get accept to the ones above. Do you have any recommendations? I assume I should go for schools that have consistently placed students in consulting (MBB,...), right?

Hi. there’s actually really good recruiting among top 15 schools with placements into consulting. Harvard and Stanford for example are not known as great consulting schools. They still place a decent number, but usually people don’t go to Harvard to pursue consulting. You can go to Fuqua or Ross or Darden, or especially Tuck and Yale were consulting is bread and butter and is the daily laser focus of the program.

A good comparison could be buying a sports car which is really really good but not necessary if you are just driving to work.

I would recommend expanding your options to include a few lower ranked schools as you make consider the scholarship options they may offer. For example all T15 US programs are more competitive than Oxford for example.

Thanks, that’s clear. Will consider these schools in the 2nd round.
Oxford is attractive for it’s 1 year program...

Got ya. a lot of the consulting recruiting in the US is built around the summer internship. You do the summer intern internship in the consulting company and most of the time you’re set because you get the return offer... that is the US model. There’s still recruiting even without the internship as people change their mind and some people don’t get return offers but the rule is internship —> offer and a 2-year program.

I see. Any idea if that applies for the Middle East too? Let’s say, someone wants to work in an MBB in Dubai.
Also if there is a choice between Insead or LBS and Yale. What do you think should be the differentiator factors? Target location post MBA?

I think European schools are better for Dubai recruiting and networking as most folks from the U.S. schools stay here or at least try to after graduation.

I did my bachelor's from NIT Warangal, interned at Samsung, working full-time at Salesforce for the last 3.5 years. Got one promotion, and won hackathons. I have done some community work, taught 60 students for 3 months, and led various clubs in college. Led an organization in college which was a makerspace and the goal was to spread innovation across and beyond college. Planning to get into some good college, move to the consulting domain (mentioned in the essays) or PM role (haven't mentioned in the essays). Want to eventually work on the west coast or mid-west.

Hi meet459
I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your GMAT and GPA look decent for the schools you are targeting. 3.5 years of experience also looks okay. What matters more is how you demonstrate your leadership skills, your ability to work across different cultures, your passion to learn. A pivot from tech to consulting/PM is very generic, talk about it in detail, what exactly do you want to do with your MBA, what are your short- and long-term goals and how will you step by step achieve them. These are the kind of things adcoms are interested to hear. You have mentioned about teaching 60 students for a period of time, do you have any statistics on the impact your work did on them? Build a strong narrative around your application.

Hi Priyanka, thanks for the detailed insight on my profile. I tried to connect via the link attached but wasn't able to submit the details.
I don't have any stats on the impact since the kids' learning is all practical based, and I taught them when school started. I doubt I would be able to quantify any results from that.
Also, regarding leadership skills and other details, would you be up for a connect? I will mail you my CV on your email id.
Once again, thanks for the review.

Combining your GRE score and GPA, you present a balanced academic profile. Your strong GRE score can help mitigate a GPA not at the top tier, especially if you can demonstrate strong professional experience and leadership capabilities in your application. All three programs are well-suited to your background and aspirations. The Ross stands out for its action-based learning and strong connections in the manufacturing sector, which could be particularly advantageous for your career trajectory. Consider engaging with alumni from these programs to gain insights into their experiences and how each program could support your career goals. You have a good profile. What will matter most is how you connect the dots and present a compelling application to the AdComs.

Do consider improving your GRE to 335+ to offset your weak GPA, slightly longish experience, and being an Indian male. Your plans post MBA are unstated, hence difficult to offer any other meaningful insight.

I think your profile is perfect for the weekend or evening MBA program. I don’t think the evening programs release their average GRE scores but it should be within the range. you’ve had a great professional progression and that trumps some of the academic questions though a slightly higher score would not hurt 😇

Hi Pratpat
I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, it looks strong for the weekend MBA program. You have extensive experience with multiple promotions. Your GRE looks kind of okayish but GPA might be a slight concern. Make your work experience the highlight of your application. Talk about impact wherever you can. You haven't mentioned about your Post MBA goals, so can't say much on that.

I did my bachelor's in Economics at a University in Colombia, I also did a postgraduate degree in Market Intelligence. I have been working between strategy consulting and technology in Colombia. I had some international exposure in Latin America, multiple promotions, and reached a director position in a small fintech company. I would like to have a geography movement within the sectors I have experience in, technology, especially fintech

Hi. I think you have a good opportunity to convert some of the T15 and LBS. M7 is more competitive and unpredictable.
If you are looking for a scholarship instead of prestige, you will need to bump your GMAT score though not sure how feasible that is. While you are below the average in terms of the GMAT, for your country/background, it should be on par and competitive enough as long as you can bring something else. Hopefully you have some good brand names on your resume - that will help with both applications and recruiting.

Hi javl12
I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, the major highlight of your application should be about your work experience, with 7.5 years of diverse experience, you have built a strong foundation in the tech industry, particularly within fintech. Talk about impact generated at work, projects lead and your promotions. Your GMAT score is slightly a bit low. Since you are targeting R2 deadlines, any chances for a retake to increase your score to maybe a 675 atleast?

Your post MBA goal to pivot geographically while remaining within the sector aligns well with your targeted programs. Focus on aligning your goals to the values of the schools you are targeting.
Given your ambitions and the strengths of your profile, we'd love to explore this further with you. Please feel free to connect with us to discuss your profile in detail.

Hi. if you’re looking to stay in consulting, these are not the best consulting machines so to speak.

I’m not saying that there’s a bad choices for consulting but there are equally good ones as well that would be easier to get in or offer a scholarship along the way. ...

Here are the programs and latest placements:

I added the link above. Typing on the mobile so I couldn’t quite copy paste very fast.

Many schools in the top 15 have solid consulting placements. Tuck, Yale, Fuqua, Ross, Darden.

The other advantage many of T15 schools have is that MBB reps have offices on campus where you can meet them four days a week.

What I heard someone say is that if you want to recruit into consulting, you want to choose the consulting club at school first and then the school. I would try to network with students from the top 15 schools and ask them about the consulting club experience. They change quite a bit as they are run by students

And as you will see, crazy enough Stanford and HBS place the least to consulting than other programs but that’s not because they suck, it’s because people in those programs are looking for other things/industries.

Saw a bit more of your profile before you made it private - having a startup is awesome for AdCom - that's valued experience not many of your peers will be able to bring so that gives your profile an extra notch. I would say 3 years of experience is on the lower side for all these programs. They do seem to prefer more established folks but it won't hurt to apply now and improve your candidacy next year if you are not happy with the results. Not sure how set you are on heading to school this year.

Understandable. The main concern admissions has is you being senior enough to recruit after the school. Recruiters are looking for certain qualities. Would you be able to recruit equally effectively as someone who spent five years in a similar consulting career? if yes, you don’t have a whole lot to worry about.

You have a great profile for bachool - admissions love people with side hustles and those who take initiative. Also, pretty unique background for an engineer so a double plus.

Do you have a score or you planning to leverage waivers?

Good luck! Take it one question at a time on the test BUT make sure you stay on time. If you can’t solve it in 2 mins and if you are not almost there, then just move on. Dont cling to a question trying to win a battle and lose the war.

4 years at matriculation within a large multinational copper company. 3 rotations and 1 promotion (1.5? went from intern to engineer 1 to engineer 2). Rotations have shown a clear up tick in responsibilities. Latest rotation doing planning and strategy includes overseeing operations crews. No direct reports but still in charge of supervisors on a crew of about 50 to make sure work is on track. Lead a few projects for infrastructure upgrades, as well as a couple internal forecasting projects to increase site NPV. LOR should be great, great relationship with both people chosen and I know they will say good things in their essays. I think GMAT and GPA are average at 710 and 3.48, but I think coming from a unique industry is going to help out.

Given that your status shows as having already applied, it appears a tad bit late to seek profile review, but nevertheless. McCombs and Rice barely send a fifth of their class into finance (incl. IB), and their GRE average scores are higher than yours. Hence, not sure about your approach to school selection. Of course, you have the gender and home advantage, which will help you overcome these limiting factors.

Like the username 👍😂
Would you be able to apply with a test waiver? I think you may be able to qualify for a few schools with a high GPA, including Darden. I believe they still issue those.

In terms of chances, I think the chance is definitely there. The GRE is sub-average but if you are a strong candidate and the GRE is the only weakness, the schools would love to have you. No scholarship but does not seem you are looking for that anyway.

Good luck!

With avg. GPA and higher than typical class profile work experience, for schools like Wharton, do consider improving your GMAT score to 695+. Not sure if you have time for this and meet R1 deadlines. You need to give them something so tempting that they can't refuse.

Hi ahmar110,
I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. I would recommend you wait a couple of years more and then apply. Meanwhile work on strengthening your application. Build your ECs, work at NGOs, pursue a hobby, something that make your profile unique. Another important thing is to connect with students at these top programs, who are from similar backgrounds. This will help you build your network.

Though your nationality gives you a slight edge from the diversity perspective, your work experience, GPA and GMAT are all on the lower side of the typical class profiles. Of course, you could attempt this year, but it would have been better to defer your plans to R1 in Fall 2025. This will give you the much needed time to improve your GMAT to say 685+, add to your work experience, and in the process, accumulate richer examples of your achievements. It would also help you upgrade your profile by pursuing specific tactics.

Engineering undergrad from top 10 US engineering school (#6 for my major). Working currently in semiconductor manufacturing with heavy emphasis on project management, with 3+ years of experience on matriculation.

Plan to pivot into consulting post-MBA to provide a broader impact to organizations, and to explore industries outside of semiconductors.

Great profile!
I think you have it in the bag. The key is to zero in on the consulting firm / team you want to be a part of. Quite a few will want strong client-facing skills (presenting, convincing, etc) to ensure you can drive the billing hours and having those skills shine. Some hire for SME roles but those tend to be much more experienced.

FYI - IB can be another focus - lots of them are looking for semi conductor instruments.

Hi rogue101
I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking of your profile a 705 FE is strong. Having a master's from IIT Madras also adds value (Tier 1 school). Highlight Impact at work. Also, demonstrate adcoms the reason for your MBA, why you want to switch to consulting, what is that one thing you like doing in long term and thus want to change careers. Apart from that, highlight any social activities you were a part of.
