Thank you very much for your guidance to improve my GMAT score. Really GMAT has become a very important part of my life. The only thing which is holding me back is my VERBAL score. I want to master it so that I could able to get a very good score, which is possible but required a very strategy to do so. According to bb, I will start to read Non-fiction books first in my free time. Currently, I had started to read Harry potter-The philosopher stone. I am really enjoying it. I will study from the material as bb and homer Simpson had suggested earlier suggested.

I have a GMAT CLUB MATHS BOOK and a soft copy of the GRAMMAR GMAT CLUB BOOK. Except for my daily studying hour for GMAT preparation, I will also read the NON-FICTION book as suggested and grammar from the GMAT club book.

In Quant, I got Q44(Not touch any question in past 6 months only revise from GMAT club maths one day before the exam)this time without any preparation level for 3rd attempt. So you can say my base level without preparation is Q44 which is still less as compared to the target score i.e. Q50.

In verbal my percentile ranking is as follows:--
500 -- SC--12th / Cr-- 49th / RC -- 5th -- V16
490 -- SC--6th / Cr -- 42th / RC -- 51st. -- V 22

Since you are considering a reattempt, this article should help.

Quote:
RC and CR are okay as compared to SC because there are not so many rules as a comparison to SC.
Since you mention SC as your specific area of concern, thought I would mention that our sentence correction book Sentence Correction Nirvana is perhaps the only book that offers a score improvement guarantee, and is especially designed for non-native speakers.

After reading the book twice (yes! it's an academic book, and so must be read twice in all seriousness, to reinforce the concepts), you will start looking forward to solving SC questions!

The book is available on Flipkart and Amazon.in. You might want to refer to these sites, to also read testimonials of how readers have benefited.

You can als go thru this post on how Soubhik, who scored V51 (overall score 780), vouches for our book.

If you want to sample a chapter before deciding to go ahead with our book, please PM me your mail-id (along with the chapter that you would like to sample) and I will be happy to send that chapter to you by mail. In addition, the entire Grammar section of the book is also available for free preview at pothi.

How to Project in Essays when there is no career growth in the last 3 years. Means, no promotion, no pay increase. However, no specific career growth is there. My question is that if I get 750 also by working hard. Is my profile could even make it into Top Tier -1 college. However, I have one master's in the technical field. But, it won't help me to get an MBA degree from Tier - 1 Colleges.

WITOW
Hello Everyone,

I am a 31-Year-Old Indian man having about 7-year work experience. I am aiming for Sep 22 Intake. I have been preparing for GMAT for 13 months and merely scored the highest 500(Q44 / V16 / IR 4) after giving 2 times GMAT in the past and scoring 400(Q32/V12/IR6) and 490(Q35/V22/IR4) respectively. I know my weakest section is verbal and I have been struggling in this section since last year. As a matter of fact, I am not a native English speaker, even though having English as my second language. I had never used it in my closed friend circle and even in my home. (Except in office need to for some work and writing an e-mail).

I desperately want to improve my score from 500 to at least 650 first and then 750.

In my past 13 months, my preparation was very on and off. It was not consistent. The main problem with me, I am not able to remember all SC rules studied from the E-GMAT course in my brain constantly. I always forgot some rules. RC and CR are okay as compared to SC because there are not so many rules as a comparison to SC.

Yes, I have been a student of an E-GMAT course in the past. Taken full course. Eventually, I have improved in my Quants however in Verbal I didn't improve much. I want to buy an online course again, but I am in doubt about buying E-GMAT again or magoosh. I have been trying to improve my verbal since a long time. However, I am not able to get there even closer than I should be. I don't want to give up. The only improvement in my Verbal score will give me the hope to achieve my target GMAT score and getting enrolled in prestigious MBA programs with scholarships. However, Since one year I am not able to improve my scores, which is raising question marks on my preparation level. I know I could do it. But How?

Without planning everything result in a bad outcome, which had happened to me in the past three attempts. To improve my GMAT Score at some respectable score is my main aim.
Hitting 650 scores is my main of my life currently.

Note:--> Kindly look at the following points before giving any advice or plan.
1.> I have not read any novels/Books/ Love stories / Fictional or Non-Fictional since my childhood except my daily school curriculum which is a must to study (SO ENGLISH LEVEL IS NOT GOOD AS PER GMAT).
2.> When I try to study SC and try to enjoy it. Naturally, I am not able to do it. I don't know why?
3.> Not able to concentrate for a long duration (4 hours at a stretch to study--very difficult)(Only concentrating on studies more difficult).
4.> I have been very poor in studies till class 9. Usually, get grace marks to pass for getting a promotion to the next class in 3 subjects (I don't remember, Eventually English might be).
5.> Do you suggest enrolling for any subscription of newspapers like TOI or THE HINDU to improve reading skills especially its Editorial page.
6.> Do you recommend taking some basic grammar classes like studying Wren and Martin or other English books like NCERT grammar book.
7.> Use Grammarly software to write e-mails(Which is costing me very dangerously).

Desperately looking for help !!!!!!!

Kindly, help me (GMAT LEGENDS)... Help me.. to achieve my dream... Kindly help me...

Hi WITOW

GMAT Verbal is not about the grammar or the vocabulary. Even though you need a basic knowledge of grammar, it's more about the application and the logical approach. For example, to solve SC questions, you don't have to enjoy them or solve them using grammatical rules. SC questions on GMAT test your ability to convey the right meaning without any ambiguity. So, you have to approach them from the meaning stand-point. And GMAT Verbal is mostly about eliminating four incorrect answer choices rather than choosing the right one. So, once you understand the intended meaning the original sentence is trying to convey, it's all about eliminating answer choices which either are grammatically incorrect or do not convey the intended meaning.

I know it's not that easy as it sounds. But if you prepare in the right way, then you can definitely improve your score. Just focus on the right things and do your preparation in a more structured way. Go through the recording below to understand the right way to improve your Verbal score.

If you are still looking to improve your score and are seeking suggestions, then I suggest that we get in touch over a call and have a detailed discussion regarding the study strategy and your weak areas. This information will help me understand your concerns and guide you in a better way. You can use the below link to get in touch with me.
